Old politicians and business people are forever hungry.

Many of the old politicians like Pelosi, Fauci, the last 2 presidents, are way too old. However, they choose to keep working stressful jobs and act like they will live forever. They are hungry. No money, power, or fame is enough for them. How could someone tolerate working more than 50 years? 50 freaking years. On top of all that, they use their positions to avoid being convicted of crimes. They put policies in place to screw up people. There are so many examples here.

On the other hand, the old business people never have enough. They want more money, power, and prestige. They will do whatever it takes to improve their status. Look at Buffett: he has all the money in the world but doesn't provide basic needs for one of his granddaughers. She had issues and needed medical assistance but couldn't get it due to lack of insurance. Another example is Bezos. He resigned from Amazon to focus on a space company. He didn't like to see Musk becoming one of the most important businessmen in the world. His wife left him and donated a lot of money to charity without hesitation. Big difference.

I don't think the new generations will be obssessed with working to death until they drop. They make better choices in this regard. Life is not supposed to be about work. We should work to live not live to work.

Capitalism rewards psychopaths and narcissists, the vast majority of wealthy and powerful people fall into one of these two categories. The problem with work is that our work is generally meaningless and doesn't benefit our communities or society at large, not to mention how underpaid we often are. I think in the right society under the right system (socialism) work can absolutely be a good and healthy thing for the individual, but under hyper capitalist societies it is nothing but damaging and exploitive.

the bigger problem with these people is the desire to keep doing this for a VERY long time. They don't get tired, bored, or unmotivated. They don't fear karma or any negative consequences for their actions.

Yeah I never understood people who aren't satisfied at a certain point. They just keep going and going like the energizer bunny. I would just build my own paradise island and relax with my loved ones if I was that powerful.

As @WoAiGou said - it is the reward system. What gets rewarded, and only in monetary value, gets repeated. Kind of addiction. To achieve that level of success/addiction one dedicates one's whole life to it. To the point where there is all that is. It becomes the only thing they have. The only thing they know. It controls them. That's the price. It is how I see it.

looks like addiction to me, good point. It seems like it controls them because it doesn't make any sense
