It'd never be my preferred choice that's for sure, up there with taking paracetamol and jumping off a building as methods I'd never ever attempt. Too cowardly I guess, I want the easiest way out.

Good idea, I've changed that now. I've been trying to figure out my setup, it was in some random article. I suppose it might be exaggerating the lack of peace if they want to put people off, good point.

I am someone who has no other means than hanging and am trying to find a way to set this up so it works. Obviously I read about failures of this method because I don't want to fail during my attempt... I'm not sure why anyone would dedicate over a year of research to this as a pro-life gesture, reading and discussing all of the research released by exit international, posting resources to Philip Nitschke's streams, etc. I have my pieces of rope at my bedside and the pull up bar I've been experimenting with if you want to see a picture of that or something.

edit - @woxihuanni You must understand how frightening this process is, a quick scan of your posts shows me you were thinking of completing SN in November last year yet didn't and I'm not accusing you of pretending to do so for drama or attention. There are a lot of reasons why it takes time and thinking around things like this.

I have seen lots of photos of folks who CTB'd by full suspension hanging. While some did have some signs, such as a swollen tongue, I have never come across any with burst eye balls. I have not come across any who have a facial expression indicating suffering. My method is hanging and descriptions like this do not change my mind. Burst sphincter, I am not even sure what that means. Upon death, the bowel and bladder empty due to the muscles relaxing. This person sounds like someone who is campaigning a Pro-Life stance. The hypocritical thing about these folks is they support abortion but are appalled at suicide. What makes them think that I have no right to make a decision to exit this world. They don't know me or the suffering I endure daily.

I feel that death by hanging is quick and peaceful and will remain my method.

I still have my SN. The problem is that I have no wish to die whatsoever, but circumstances drive me to it. I see I've become a rather terrible person. Maybe best if I drink up before losing the last remains of humanity in me.

I really hope you're right. How far into researching/planning are you? I have made a serious attempt a few weeks ago but chickened out again.

Thank you for asking, but I'd rather not make the thread about me. On the original question, I think @Jblack makes good points: Some of their fear-mongering does not even make sense such as the burst sphincter thing.

Yes that's true. They have described CO poisoning in a very similar way in their article and it does seem as though they be making it up to put people off (hopefully)...

Well, putting people off suicide is openly their goal, so no surprises there. That being said, if there is any method you feel more comfortable about and may become available later on, maybe it is worth waiting for. I don't know your options or preferences, of course.

That's why Morticians have to place spiked contacts on eyes to keep the lids shut and wire jaws closed for viewings. Every muscle relaxes in death so the idea of contorted, tortured expressions doesn't even makes sense.
