Last summer I met this woman on the internet and I spend the entire summer just chatting and playing games with her. I have never wanted to see a person this badly. I remember how I would wait for hours thinking of nothing, but her. Being with her was the only thing that made me happy. Sadly our thing lasted only for a couple of months and even though I have never met her, I can't stop thinking of her. I know it's retarded, but I probably don't have anything worth living for anymore. Even if I was able to move on from her, I would still be an absolute degenerate.

How bad is it to be so obsessed with someone who you have never met? She is also the only woman who did anything sexual and romantic stuff with me.

Don't worry about it. You're not the only person who feels like that.

You just have to accept it. The pain won't go away but you'll learn to live with it.

Um...no we haven't. We're not ALL products of the Internet generation living virtual lives. Some of us actually knew real people and had real friends.

Yes, but still really far away.

The fact that we have never met, yet I feel so strongly about her is what bothers me the most. She is the one who unintentionally pushed me from thinking of suicide to planning and attempting suicide. I know it's completely retarded, but there is a reason why people don't see me in high regard.

I also have felt emptiness and I agree that this pain is preferable. I also hope that time will fix you.

Yep, I've been with such woman for 10 years... Ironically, she was the best match as a friend, as emotional and intimate partner, everything was shared, natural, in the way I always expected it must happen (but never actually happened with my real acquaintances)... All was great, but one thing - we can never be together. So... thanks again life, you were the great... We ended it few years ago, since it became only suffering. Also she has an actual life, and it may be not great, but it's something. So killing myself is the only thing I will never share with her... Maybe her life would be more tolerable...

Read the next part of their post, they weren't just talking about the internet.

As a guy who has met a bunch of women from the internet this is a very common feeling. This type of relationship can feel intoxicating and addictive, and I think it's heightened by the fact that there's distance and other stumbling blocks involved. Something about it makes us want to try harder and overcome the problems to make it work.

In many instances, it's an illusion though. You may find each other totally different than you first thought, and may not get on all that well at all.

I've kinda been on the opposite end of this

Not sure how you came up with that idea... I can talk only about myself, but what I found was a person like me... So I was on the opposite end...

If you haven't officially met, your imagination just kinda fills in those gaps of information

Well, if you see the body of a person, aren't you doing exactly the same thing?... Actually there are many researches out there, showing that people with good looks are assumed also to have good personalities... I think you can learn a lot about a person actually... talking with him/her, I mean really talking. I know, it's absurd in today's world of tinder and small talk...

You may find each other totally different than you first thought

Depends, on what kind of conversations you had... People spend years living together, only to find out they are completely different then what they imagined. I understand that most people try to make the "real world" sound... hm.. really real, the "definite experience". But it's not... it's always a perception, always only in your mind, it's an illusion like any other... Sorry, but the "reality", is not enough real either... On the contrary, it's often even more fake. There are dangers of course to not get physical, and one ends up in this position mostly because there is no other way.
