Do to the uncertainty of whether or not a member as been successful in ctb I just had the idea of using a
( dead man switch). The obviously a little bit of code will be needed, but most social media apps have API's.

If the community is into this it'll be a cool project.

First are there already such projects , if so are they open source ?
security needs to be a priority, maybe not .......

Suggestions and recommendations are welcome.

Any action on part of this site and or it's operators, members would potentially jeopardize and or bring undue attention to the community / site.
I'm aware of the risk, that's why I said the primary method should be just PM'ing my identity to those who ask and are really interested in knowing and confirming for the friends we've made here. The public thing is only if the mods don't think it'll put the site in danger.

I definitely understand. Maybe Admins/mods should use their discretion when sharing the information. Only to those who are confirmed trustworthy on this website.

I'll wait for the others to chime in however regarding my idea.

Both Facebook's Graph API and the Twitter API need to be used by a real person with a developer account, and Facebook in particular frowns on users who try to create accounts with fake names/details. And I don't think the admins would want to let go of their anonymity when connected to a page dealing with a topic this sensitive.

I guess, you can do that. It's up to you. A previous friend and user here did the same thing when she passer. Gave me her info so I could tell the others and to keep them from wondering.
I'm glad you and Ashpac approve. :wee:

Of course,if I end up accidentally dying(just mentioned here that I may be at risk of a stroke/heart failure),then there wouldn't be much I could do to inform you guys(If I end up disappearing without a word, assume that's the case),but if I'm going to purposely do myself in,I'd do it this way. I'd probably either message you or Ashpac.

Sounds good. You could also add the both Ashpac and I to your message. That way we both recieve it. Just add one name, a comma, then the other name in the recipient section! :)

I know I'm super late with this, but you can actually go into your Facebook account and shoes someone do you have permission to take over your account once you've passed away. I set mine to go to my sister, but we can all change it and pick up mod to send it to that way once we're ready for them to post that we are no longer here they would message Facebook let them know and then Facebook changes your page into a memorial or something like that and whoever you gave permission to is able to take over your page and do certain things. I'm not 100% sure and how it all works, like I know they can't go into your private messages or anything but I believe they can post on your behalf. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong it's been a while since I even looked into it. But it does sound kind of similar to what you're talking about. The mods could create their own Facebook page and we could all give them access to our personal accounts if we want to.
Thanks for letting me know about this, but I honestly prefer to just let the account die along with me. Getting a memorial isn't appealing enough for me to deal with all those complications. But again, thanks for letting me know. :)

I feel the same. Besides, I don't think anyone would really care. I know for a while some people on my family would milk my "tragedy" as a means for attention and when it starts to wade, then I will be forgotten. Actually, as weird as it might sound, I've had more compassion and support from the people here than anyone IRL.

I'm sitting here chuckling at "It was hard for me to join this site".

I have just joined. This is my first real topic discussion website. I am a touch frustrated and intimidated by all there is to learn. But I am delighted to have a constructive, mature place to have constructive mature conversation on this topic. And it does promise to be a forum without excessive 'frothy' emotionalism and minimal ignorance. :-)
