Does anyone know if "nitrite salt" is the same as sodium nitrite?

No,Nitrite Salt as marketed in shopping websites is usually a pre-prepared mix containing very little sodium nitrite.
It will state the percentage, typically around 0.6%

You need at least 95% sodium nitrite,99% is preferable.

Yes it is.
No,it isn't. Check the percentage of sodium nitrite.
We're talking about pre-mix curing salts on commercial websites, which lazilly term their product "nitrite salt".
Check the percentage of SN in those.

That said,on one rare occasion, someone was selling 99% "nitrite salt" on a shopping website.
They swore it was 99% sodium nitrite, but testing wasn't too favourable.
Unfortunately,it's not permitted to link to examples to prove my point.

Alright, sorry just answering from the perspective that salt is sodium therefore nitrite salt being sold at correct percentage should be the same thing.
