have you ever noticed that? sometimes it seems to me that humanity is ever slightly dissociated from the fact how cruel nature and the universe are. you can be born with devastating disabilities and stuck here to suffer. you can have accidents and stuck here to suffer. but we act as if existence is a gift. it can be, with the right kind of luck and a shitload of ignorance. but only then. death is a blessing; but when you are growing up with religious parents you are basically growing up with heavy indoctrination supposed to hail to existence no matter what.

and while that sounds like I am anthropomorphizing the universe, there are entire planets which are rejected from their solar systems wandering completely alone in space for trillions of years. imagine being such a planet. that is how i feel. it is insane.

It truly is, all that this torturous, dreadful existence causes is endless suffering with no limit as to how much one can be tortured, for me only non-existence is a gift, existence is a terrible mistake to me and I see it as an abomination to be burdened with this existence suffering so unnecessarily, more than anything I wish I never existed, all that existence does is just cause harm, I find it the most terrible tragedy how this existence was imposed.

Yes, I agree. I think we sometimes romantasize nature. Or think it has this natural equilibrium. There are creatures that form symbiotic relationships certainly but in general, I think all creatures are in a battle for survival.

Some will survive doing literally nightmare fuelling things. There are many examples in the insect and parasite worlds where creatures will devour others alive or, turn them into zombie like drones before eventually killing them.

We tend to argue it isn't so cruel in nature because- they may not be consciously be committing cruelty. I think some animals exhibit sadistic traits though. And regardless of whether it's intentionally, it's hardly nice to eat something sentient alive.

In a way, I don't think it's surprising humans are capable of appalling acts. Rather than be unnatural, maybe it's actually that those who do these things actually follow their instincts more. We've created morals and laws to try and keep our worse behaviours in check but- I guess they're still there lurking within us.

I sometimes wonder how the world would have turned out if another species had become dominant. What would a world look like with octupus as the dominant species say? I'd kind of like to see that.
