So I'll attach all images but I bought a 5kg bucket of SN and it's from an offical chemical company and is 100% it was created by what the label states as August this year. The bucket is just a pool type chemical bucket of thin but sturdy plastic with a closed lip so was closed properly but still not sure how secure it really is.
When I got it a few months ago I noticed it had a number of fairly hard lumps in it I left it for a while but decided to get some reagent bottles and silica packets to keep it more secure.
I finally opened it today and yeah there were a number of pretty big lumps as in photos, they mostly broke apart instantly into powder but I'm not sure if too much oxygen got in. But I've separated it into 3 bottles with a few silica packs.
I've also put some into multiple zip loc bags as I have my aquarium test kit so I can test it soon. I just have to get some demineralised water but my local shop haven't had stock for over 2 months and I don't have a car so have to get the train to another store and take a big bag as they only sell them in 3L bottles
which is why I've put it off and didn't want to open the SN before I got the water but just had to today cause the lumps were on my mind. But hopefully have enough airtight in the bags to test within the week.
But what are your thoughts on all this? Think it's degraded a lot? Am I all good with my storage method in the bottles for it to last a few years in case but it's now that I'm so worried! I'm so anxious to finally test it now…
