This is my first post on the recovery section, I never thought that I will be posting here, but I've been going to DBT and surprisingly it works! some things seems dumb to me but I'm trying to see the good things about this therapy, also my recent psychiatrist give me properly medication after a long time that nobody knew what was wrong with me. Recovery feels weird like I'm not myself anymore but maybe I just had this thought that my personality was my suicidality. I've been also clean on drugs (except cigarettes) for like one week, it looks like a short time but I don't feel the urge of doing it like before. Maybe if you can tell me your experiences on recovery it would help me to keep going.
sorry if my inglish is difficult to understand but it's not my first language

Congratulations on your success. It really sounds like you have something to build on.

It can help to remember the inner strength you were able to draw on if you encounter difficulties in the future.

Congratulations on the progress. It was a huge step that you took towards the right path. You should be really proud of yourself. And I'm also glad that you found something that could help you.

Remember that recovery is a long process. And that there will be days that are harder than others. But don't give up. I'm also taking medication and it helps me a lot.

I hope things continue to progress for you because you really deserve it. I wish you all the luck in this world.

I hope you continue to recover.

I felt like I was getting better after I started taking antidepressants and going to a therapist early this year, but I collapsed again. I hope get better though!

Welcome!

I'm so glad you're feeling better

Recovery is a bit of a up and down ride, so don't be concerned if it doesn't always feel quite this good. There are usually people around here to talk to and we've got your back.

That's so wonderful to read, congratulations. I don't really have much to add, the others have said it well—it's a process, and not always a smooth one, but regardless, we've got you. Sometimes I have to literally take it minute by minute, and to give myself permission to feel like shit & stay in bed. It's not a failure, anymore than barfing after bad shrimp is. The real beauty in the world is that every morning you get to try again, and yesterday no longer matters.

This reminds me a quote of Bob Ross that says: as long as you're learning, you're not failing

I hope that you're feeling better, recovery it's hard and has ups and downs, please do not feel like you are not doing it right, as long as you're trying it's enough ❣️
Thank you so much for your kind words, it really helps me to get through everything that envolves recovery

It is comforting to know that there are people who are really good at it, which is why I occasionally think about medication. In any case, always remember what you were told above, that when things go wrong again (this is life) you will have the strength and learning acquired from the current experience to face it again.

Bye
