I literally listen to music all day, it makes much more effortless. Does it change your mood?

I also like dancing, unfortunately now that bats are the rulers of the world, I can no longer go to any clubs.

What type of music do you like ?

I quote ;

"

It can help treat mental illness

Music literally changes the brain. Neurological researchers have found that listening to music triggers the release of several neurochemicals that play a role in brain function and mental health:
  • dopamine, a chemical associated with pleasure and "reward" centers
  • stress hormones like cortisol
  • serotonin and other hormones related to immunity
  • oxytocin, a chemical that fosters the ability to connect to others
Although more research needs to be done to understand precisely how music can be used therapeutically to treat mental illness, some studiesTrusted Source suggest that music therapy can improve the quality of life and social connectedness for people with schizophrenia.

Music's effects on mood

A number of researchersTrusted Source have interviewed groups about why they listen to music. Study participants vary widely in terms of age, gender, and background, but they report strikingly similar reasons.

One of the most common uses of music? It helps people regulate their emotionsTrusted Source, researchers found. It has the power to change moods and help people process their feelings.

There was a documentary about using music with the elderly who were in care facilities that helped rouse them to be able to communicate again.

I like music a lot but I don't listen all the time. My tastes go thru a cycle. sometimes the stimulation is too much and I get stressed out from even hearing music.

High energy music lifts my mood and keeps me focused when I'm doing chores. I'll dance at home while doing the dishes and stuff. A lot of what I listen to is driven by nostalgia, trying to feel a certain way. Some albums help me go back to another time in my life. This isn't always a good thing!

It used to be something I enjoyed a lot, I listened at unsafe levels though and now I've got permanent ringing in my ears, hyper sensitivity to noise (hyperacusis) and something called visual snow. Be careful, don't listen above 85 dB because it's only a matter of time before best case scenario you only get permanent ringing in your ears. Also you don't lose your hearing equally between frequencies. You tend to lose the high frequencies first so you might not notice anything different in your life before it really starts messing you up.

I listen to lots of video game music, other music doesn't really do anything for me unless I can relate to the lyrics although even then the tune also has to be catchy.

I used to listen to music all the time, it was my favourite thing as a teenager. It did really help me when I was dealing with many negative emotions, it does have an calming effect. However I have tinnitus and ear problems now so I don't really use headphones, and music just isn't the same for me. I like mostly rock, metal, some classical.
My favourite song is Funeral Cry by Dark Sanctuary. It is what I named my username after.

Yes, music is amazing!! Even though if they're sad songs and I might experience some kind of nostalgia, it still makes me feel better!!

There was a time in which I was so suicidal that I didn't even want to listen to any music. Depression is such a bastard!! lol
