It's been a while since I've seen one of these threads (or has it? I might just be bad at paying attention). What are some movies you enjoy?

I3Qyi86.jpg

I personally really liked They Shoot Horses, Don't They? (1969). It's about a dance hall competition were couples try see how long they can last before they collapse out of exhaustion. It's very claustrophobic at times, so be warned that this isn't a movie for those who want something cheery.

My fave scene from Constantine, besides having amazing actors casted, just the way they portrayed Lucifer in this once seen with John Constantine is my favourite.

Indeed such as good movie, <3 the Truman show. Jim Carrey is pretty good in eternal sunshine of the spotless mind as well

I could list so many more, but I chose ones that maybe others in a dark mood might enjoy. A little something I liked about each:
Annihilation: Juxtaposition of beauty and destruction. And the annihilation sound gave me shivers.
Midsommar: Technicolor horror fairy tale. I'm not sure any movie has left me feeling so wonderful and horrified by the ending.
The Ritual: Another fairy tale horror and the creature was one of the most interesting I've ever seen.
It Follows: It has a very intense and unique soundtrack and even though the movie takes place over a few days, it isn't set in any one decade or time of year. I barely even noticed it the first watch through. Very odd in all the right ways to me.
Cold in July: Twisty and 80's nostalgia. I found it because I needed to see something with Michael C Hall in it, and his mullet is fantastic if you ask me.
Take Shelter: Tense, but also quiet and restrained. Michael Shannon's character starts building a underground bunker after having visions about the end of the world. Jessica Chastain plays a very patient wife if I remember it right. It's about mental illness and it's also not.
Anything from Studio Ghibli I love howls moving castle and spirited away.
Studio Ghibli, yes! Its hard to choose but I think I'd have to say Princess Mononoke and The Red Turtle for myself.

Words can't express how much I love this film. In a series of flashbacks, it tells the story of Iwao Enokizu, an outwardly charming and suave man who suddenly goes on a killing spree. It's a dark, grim, and brutal movie. You are never told exactly what motivated Enokizu to kill. His thoughts and feelings (if he truly has any) are inscrutable, and when the mask slips, it is only to express rage. But neither the cause, nor the target of his rage, is made explicit.

As the viewer, you are expected to watch the film carefully and piece together the clues to reach your own conclusions about Enokizu's motivations. In other words: "Show, don't tell." The film handles this principle masterfully.

There is no redemption, no forgiveness whatsoever in the film. There is absolutely no sense of release. In the end, you are left with an overpowering impression of an eternal, sardonic malevolence.

I love 2 types of movies.:

Psycological horror with a bunch of twists like the autopsy of jane doe, the lodge, and the grudge to name a few.

And there's the disney movies i grew up on, like cars, a bugs life, up, and finding nemo/finding dory. Love those

The Princess Bride always makes me laugh and it's so iconic (couldn't even write this without thinking "hello, my name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die")

For more recent movies, The Martian and Me Before You are amazing.
