I have taken molly and had a wonderful, therapeutic conversation with a close friend twice over the past couple weeks. I already feel myself doing significantly better even when I'm coming down and not high. However, now that I am getting happier with being alive, I do want to make sure this substance is safe to use every month or two months. (The emotional, self-actualization deep dives while high are helpful for me, however, I don't think I need/want them more than once a month at this point). My system for taking it is taking only one pill, staying hydrated (but not too hydrated), and keeping cool. (If the temperature were more than 70 degrees, I likely wouldn't take it). I also don't take it at parties; it's exclusively in the safety of my home, sitting down, and not doing anything that would get me significantly overheated.
My main question here, is whether this is a pretty safe thing to be doing on a monthly or every other monthly basis? If I'm doing this fairly safely and only one pill at a time, should an overdose or dehydration be a huge concern or should the molly being laced with something that could kill me be a concern? I would like to continue to use this for therapeutic purposes, because it's working in a way nothing else ever has, but I'm more and more nervous as my desire to live increases.
Also open to trying LSD, DMT, or shrooms if anyone has any experience with using those for therapeutic purposes. This experience has been really eye-opening for me.

this sounds really positive :) you should keep practicing harm reduction and maybe read this for more information. buying a reagent testing kit might also be a good idea because it's not impossible for it to be cut with things that you might not want to ingest

Iirc as long as you aren't dosing more than 200mg or so per session and no more often than every 3 months or so pure MDMA is very safe if you have no adverse health conditions. Definitely test the stuff you get (sites like bunkpolice etc) to make sure it's actually mandy. NAC can lower your tolerance and minimise damage if you supplement with it between trips. There's a lot of info on reddit about therapeutic MDMA usage so feel free to do more research on your own.

I think as long as you don't have any issues with impulsivity or addictive tendencies. I started using Molly like that for a period and then started doing it everyday. Would not recommend doing that. I would say that the more you use the worse the come down is and it turns into an inescapable cycle.

So I think as long as you don't use it in excess and only occasionally. Since whatever high you get from it will always come down. And the come downs aren't good if you have depressive tendencies.

Every few months should be fine. Going to eat some shrooms next weekend for some introspection and a mental reset so to speak.

Wish I knew abt this. Is this giving you a transcendental, euphoric experience? I am sipping Bourbon Cream (whatever that is) in my coffee. Closest to Woodstock I'll get probably, except for a bad trip on a single THC gummy (lol). Man, I'm a lightweight, but still curious abt some of this stuff. MDMA is what? Like a euphoria-inducing drug?

Here's one article discussing MDMA and PTSD. It's also being studied to treat eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and potentially autism (due to its prosocial effects).

Ecstasy is one hell of a drug. I think it definitely has potential to work therapeutically.
Having said that, I caned it loads in the 90s during the rave scene and I honestly feel that it did something in the way of possibly depleting my serotonin somehow. I can't verify that of course but all my friends who caned it back in the day have also ended up with long-term mental health issues such as depression, anxiety and panic attacks. I see a pattern for sure.

100% true. While unlikely to kill you, hard abusing MDMA will drain you of the ability to feel joy more than almost anything else for a long time. That's why respecting dosing recommendations and 3 month rule is so important. The UK MDMA culture is notoriously bad for this with how often ppl here take it + mixing it with alcohol worsens harm.

MDMA certainly has great therapeutic potential, and found its place in mainstream therapy and marriage counseling for many years after it's discovery, before it was made illegal.

But pills are notoriously questionable, and the contents of a pill can vary and change dramatically. There are many different drugs that are similar to MDMA and sold as "molly" such as PMA, methylone, MDPV and others, that can be quite deadly and the difference between a safe dose and a lethal overdose is quite small, not to mention the different additional drugs that are often found in pills such as ketamine and meth.

If you are going to use MDMA, please try to source some pure MDMA crystal and stay away from pills unless you can verify with a test what is in them and how strong they are.

Here is a good resource for you to start with https://erowid.org/chemicals/mdma/mdma.shtml learning as much as you can about a drug, it's effects and it's history is the most important and helpful thing you can do when taking it.

@Oblivion Access and @Sister of the Moon raise a good point, abusing MDMA can have serious negative effects, and there is some consensus that very high doses and frequent or long term use can cause some permanent deficits. But most drugs including alcohol are like this in some way.

In saying that, as long as you find unadulterated MDMA, and use it conservatively, it is quite safe. Like you said, it's important to stay hydrated. Monthly or "every other month" use is certainly not within the range of overuse or frequent abuse.
