For years when singing along to Bohemian Rhapsody I always thought he sang,
"living his life on his pork sausages"
Instead of,
"Spare him his life from this monstrosity"

What lyrics have you misheard?

Alan Jackson's song, "Flaws." I always hear, "balls."

Balls, everybody's got 'em
You can bet your last two dollars
There ain't no tens
All them balls…

My friend though her whole life that "oh, oh, you're in the army now" was a meaningless "yorindi yorina". I let her sing it like that for ages and she was shocked when I finally corrected her

I've only now decided to look up what the actual words are to this line from the manic street preacher's "motorcycle emptiness"
I've always thought it was, "Obi Wan who ate the cakes you'd given us"

Instead of this:
"All we want from you are the kicks you've given us"

I have heard these refered to as "Mondegreens", though I can't remember why they are called that. I believe it referrs to a specific, commonly mis-heard lyric.

My favorite is the US Pledge of Allegiance: "He led the pigeons to the flag, one naked individual..."

Isn't even humorous but thought 'there's a bad moon on the rise' was 'there's a backdoor on the right'

ELO - Don't Bring Me Down
"Don't bring me dowwwwwwwwn, Bruce"
It's actually "Don't bring me dowwwwwwwn, Groose."

Jeff Lynne: "You know that little daft bit in there that goes [unintelligible]. I just made it up in the studio. It was actually 'groose,' which happens to mean something. The engineer was German and he said 'How did you know that word?' And I said: 'What word?' And he said 'Groose… it means greetings in German.' I said: "That's good… I'll leave it in."

If this is true and not a pisstake then this is the most crucial piece of info I've taken from this forum and should be in the next pph imo.

Maxell tape, iirc. At the same time, Vitalite margarine used the same tune ("oh, oh...Vitalite"). Even Desmond Dekker caught on to the Thatcherite boom, it appears.

Tbf, I'm not even sure Falco knew exactly what he was singing when he recorded it.

I always thought it was "rock in the catbox" --which sounds uncomfortable for the cat.

Most of you guys are probably unfamiliar with this band, but the mishearing of this line is still funny:

"Show me a leader that won't come from Mars"

instead of

"Show me a leader that won't compromise"

Not exactly a misheard:
When we were children me and my brother thought that the lyric of Beat It by Michael Jackson wasn't in English but in a made-up language just because we couldn't understand English at that age. Not all english songs, just this one had a special language. So we were smashing random words and thought we were cool and smart ass boyz.
Some years have passed, meanwhile i learned english, and at the age of 9 i discovered the truth.
