Wondering why so many can't do partial. Kate Spade and Robin Williams made it look so doable. Yet everyone on SS struggles and I'm wondering how to make it successful. It's a concern of mine because this method seems the only one I can do logistically. So what is the successful way to do it

me three.. i tried partial and still here, it's not as easy as the videos make it look. The one time i came close to it being successful i felt like i was having a heart attack. It was so painful it made me stop... stabbing in my chest...

I wonder this myself, but then with the Williams et al examples we'll never know how many times they tested, attempted, researched, whatever. There's every chance they went through the same struggle with summoning up the courage. I think in many cases it's often just a case of finding the sweet spot to pass out, there are enough accidental deaths, for example from those seeking auto-erotic thrills, to suggest this is the case and a successful ctb requires some preparation or just pure luck.

I agree with attempting, research and trying. I knew I could've gone back and succeeded once i learned AH.. that's where you need the pressure (arteries).. but i just felt put off by the pain .. unsure if people who go ahead successfully feel that pain in the chest but i just thought i'd rather try a different method. Others are braver than me in that sense though.

also. i figured out the trick was having the ligature right under my jawbone and not around the neck as such. if you place your hands along the underside of your jaw.. thats how high i had the ligature. I only came closer to passing out that way

Same, l also had the knot on the front right and pressed my carotid against it, whereas others have more success with the knot at the back. I did pass out, as discussed elsewhere, and surprisingly quickly too.

How did you regain consciousness from that

It wasn't an attempt to ctb, was my first test of partial from the resources here, was essentially testing the rope, length of drop, knot location etc. The rope l used was a bath robe belt looped over a door from the handle. The handle was flat and smooth and the rope slid off as l presumably convulsed and l hit the deck. I was very disorientated and it took a good few seconds to realise l needed to slacken the ligature which was still tight around me, but I'd say l passed out in less than ten seconds.
