Obviously there are some. 'timecave' has been mentioned by at least one person, and as a comment it may not be 'safe'. Leaving a letter at a certain place and time for a neighbour who has a strict schedule is another.

In my case it looks like people will have to wait till they smell the putrid smell of death, which could take quite a while. And what if noone will bust open that door for months. I can't afford discovery, and it's always possible that I'll change my mind at the last moment so sending a letter by mail is a BAD idea. And to do that to someone ...

Methods ? Discuss if you please.

Email delay service: As I wrote, TimeCave is definitely not secure; I almost got into all sorts of trouble using them. However, I have now started using LetterMeLater, which has a better/clearer user interface anyway, and after some casual chatting with their tech team I believe it will be more secure. Gmail also appears to have a native, or near-native option --"Boomerang" I think?-- that is discussed by a few people here on ssf; I hope they will chime in with details since I don't know much about it.

Dead man's switch: A bit more work, since you need to actively prevent the email from sending, but it is an online service where you queue a file (email) to be sent if you do not contact them. So at a pre-determined amount of time after they have not heard from you, the email will be sent. I considered this as a better option for those who will be relying on impulsivity: I may need to contact the service every day, but if I get the urge to ctb some night, I don't need to worry about getting my LetterMeLater emails queued up; everything is already ready to go and will send automatically when I don't halt the process the next day.

US Mail 1: It works better for those with home delivery and a mailbox with mail pick-up. Have your letter to the local law enforcement ready to mail. When you decide to ctb, put the letter in the box, put the flag up, and as soon as your local LEOs get your email that there's a dead body to be collected, they should be on the way pretty quickly.

US Mail 2: This only works with the mailbox home delivery, but leaving a note for the mail carrier asking them to phone law enforcement is a possibility.

For myself, I'm using LetterMeLater as my primary, with US Mail 2 as my back up. These have the advantage that if I once again flinch, and don't succeed, both methods are reverseable: I can cancel the delayed email at LetterMeLater and, since I know when the mail arrives, I can go retrieve my note from the mailbox before the letter carrier finds it.

Ready and waiting

Failure is NOT an option!

This is something that i need to finalize as well. I definitely do not want to be found because of the smell coming out from underneath my apartment door, and since I live alone in a building with a door person it's unlikely that someone will just drop by unexpectedly. I believe that some phone companies offer a text delay service, so you can schedule a text to be sent at a certain time in the future and then cancel if you change your mind. I use Metro and I've not been able to find that option.

I prefer Thunderbird, and there is an 'add on' but I've never used it so I'd be weary. I don't have outlook at home.
Never had a gmail account in my life and never will.

Schedual txt message.
You can write it up and choose a time and date for it to be sent.
Comes standard on most phones.

For my android go to person you want to send message to. Click settings or options (in this case the plus next to the message var) then the 3 dots or more option buttion then schedual message. Input time and date and click send. And it will stay there unsent until that time. And you can deletw it before if you dont want to send it.

I would trial it by sending a message to yourself so you understand how it works coz ive accidentally sent a message straight away before by accident.

Well, not everyone has a smartphone ... of course, you could buy one but you don't want to mess up. And to whom do you send the message ? A text to someone you know 'I'm dead' is rather cruel.

Carefully worded,SWIM that might be trusted to not call for help (which is harder than it sounds), might wait 24 hours from your phone call then alert the authorities that they are concerned. SWIM might have done this a few times. But they advise to be extremely careful choosing your assistant in this endeavour.

After 24hrs the chosen individual would call you to double check. After that, if the authorities invade and rescue you,it's really your own doing. Remember you are also risking SWIMs safety in this event.

"SWIM"?

If you're speaking of a close friend willing to call in the authorities, then yes, I can recommend that, too. I have one of those already alerted that he may need to phone in a "welfare check" for me. Such good friends are rare and precious. Unfortunately, he is often out of the area and out of email/text range, so the delayed email must remain my first choice.

I plan on telling no one, and just waiting for my body to rot.. that way, even if the gun to my head doesn't kill me instantly, I'll die within 7 days due to lack of water, or blood loss, or some other reason... It might suck laying there paralyzed and/or blind for a few days, but I don't want to be rescued.

Yeah, you'll blow your eyeballs out of place, if not entirely out of the sockets. It's not a guarantee that you'll end up paralyzed, just that you're eyeballs will end up blowing up into some weird places, the force of an explosion of the brain bloats the entire head for a millisecond, but enough to pop the eyeballs out, if you're using a big enough gun. You're brain will be confused af and sending all kinds of signals out once part of it is draped across the carpet.
