Ok, I get to pick a prescriber on an online therapy website. I'm looking for something for my insomnia. What kind of psychiatrist is more likely to not be scared to prescribe me a controlled substance? Young/old? Male/female? Etc. let me know your thoughts, I'm desperate, thanks,

I wouldn't necessarily say it's about their characteristics, but I'm not too sure what the regulations are in your country or anything like that. All I could suggest is you explain to them why you need them, and what your situation is. When getting my prescriptions, sometimes I have to try things out at a lower dose/less intense meds sometimes, maybe they could start you out on something and then you tell them if it isn't helping, and they can help you from there? Sorry I can't really give much advice, but I'm sorry you're in such a situation of desperation & my heart goes out to you. As someone losing sleep lately (nothing comparable to what you're experiencing I'm sure), I can understand how awful that must feel.

I'd imagine the older docs will be more open to a more lenient prescribing plan. Younger docs are much closer to the current frontline changes in opinion surrounding certain meds and their public safety. The older Docs have done it their way for years and like to keep it that way unless they have particularly been unlucky enough to fall foul of an accident in the public eye resulting from on of their prescriptions. Its unlikely you'll get one of those but if you do you'll still likely have a better chance with than the younger doctors. Older man would probably be the best im my opinion but older generally is best. Young/new treatment reform is a bit overly concerned by the wrong things and turns a blind eye to what is actually not at all responsible medecine practices. The dishing out of psych meds to anyone that cries for example is nuts. Good luck anyway.

I should add, you should stear clear of people offering you these kinds of things/links in general. Most people will be scammers! I'd say near enouhh 100%. There's also the possibility of genuine sources being compromised or becoming selective acammers. Even though some have legitimately received their items doesn't rule out the faceless seller becoming a scammer down the line. There are so many pitfalls and if I were reading this with someone elses eyes I would probably say don't believe them.
I'd also like to add that its probably better to consult a doctor before dabbling in sleeping meds from ilicit sources. If I'm honest I regret sharing this info as I posted after taking my own prescribed sleeping meds and wasn't practicing my usual caution as a result. I actually consider it a bit of a lapse in judgement. It's out of character for me. That said, it is/was a genuine source for me. I would feel better if you were to seak professional help with this first though. I'm actually wondering why this is something you haven't already done. Perhaps you have and found no help or maybe it's a financial issue? Please update us on this. Thanks.
