It's a hard thing to do! I'm pretty sure if I didn't have a job I wouldn't be talking to annnyyone outside of the internet. I met two amazing people, total punx!!! Love them! But again if it wasn't for my job.... Anyways, have you guys managed? Do you just have old friends? New friends? No friends? Do you take your online presence seriously? I definitley do. All the people I'm talking to are real people! Potential friends!! Of course I'm going to treat that seriously.

Sometimes in random places. For the longest time, I didn't and haven't. I'm okay with that. I don't see or talk to anyone that I've known from the past. Someday maybe I'll start all over and be "social" again. Who knows. I do consider my online friends to be casual friends.

I don't have friends. I have a couple of fake ones, but they've left me in the dark now that I'm suicidal nearly all the time. They don't know about it though - Its my little secret I guess. I wish I had real friends though. I wish I had someone who would care enough for me to even just send one text.

I only have fairweather friends just people to talk to but I wouldn't count on any of them to help me if I needed it

I am more of a "secondary friend" to everyone

Baaah I know that feeling it's so frustrating!!! It's like no matter what I do there's always some one better than me in their lives :/

I have one. And I'm quite not planning on having another because it seems like obligation and responsibility naturally comes with the word "friend". Along of course with my presence each time I am summoned. Good thing is that I, too, have that power.

I've lost touch with most high school and college friends. A couple I might message once a year or so, but almost never see.

I made a great friend when I started my current job in 1998, had a few girlfriends, married in 2005. Didn't make another friend until 2018. I am, however, very difficult, a workaholic, and married for the past 14yrs. Such things greatly reduce scenarios for friendships to develop.

The only friends I have are from high school and I dont see them or even talk to them very often. I've always wanted more friends and people to socialize with but I have never really been able to make the connection. Or rather I've never been comfortable with approaching someone. I always feel like I dont know how to start a conversation and even saying hi to someone gives me anxiety. I'm like oh no I said something weird.
It's one if the reasons I'm suicidal. Once I know people or they're talking to me, I'm a social butterfly but I've never been able to do it on my own. It's a very lonely place to be.

Was trying meetup.com, people in your area publicly meet up sharing similar interests. No luck with that by far. In the past year, I've made one online friend that I can't really consider a friend.
It's a headache pouring out your all to people and all you get in return is vague answers. Most of the people I've spoken to feel like forgotten acquaintances sadly. I put in as much effort as I can but if you're not "cool" or "smart" enough, they ignore or worse, leave. Everyone leaves.
Even in school, no one wanted to be friends with the weird girl. I've always felt so shameful because I will never be good enough for the world. Such a loser, can't even make "friends" with my own family. The workplace was even worse.

I have a part-time job as a prison guard. When the other guards aren't around, I carry my favorite fiction reading material to the inmates' locked cells and I force them to turn off their radios and listen to me read. Not like they can get away. Then, in exchange for small favors--like extra gym time--I force them to talk to me about how they felt about what I read to them. I was going to become a social studies teacher and pass out easy A's in exchange for long, involved chats on current events, but you know the risks of stepping out of line with school administrations.

I don´t. Friends were easily made in childhood and teenage years.
