The website takes its name from a book by medical journalist Robert Whitaker. The book took a critical stance toward psychiatry and details its history of often inhumane treatments of mental illness. Likewise, the blogs and stories featured on the site are critical of current and established treatment practices, especially psychiatric medications. Not all contributors take the view that psychiatric drugs are always bad, but do criticize the overmedicalization of mental disturbances, especially the theory that depression is caused by a lack of neurotransmitters, such as serotonin. Other blogs detail damage they have suffered due to psychiatric medications.
Has anyone here visited the site and, if so, what is your impression of it?
I think there have been some well-studied opinions but have also seen stories that seemed to suggest causation without explaining how they chose that explanation as opposed to correlation. I know not every source of information is perfect, but I'm curious what others think as I'm still working on my overall impression given that the site has an obvious agenda.

Sometimes I read it. It's open as a tab right now in fact. It's an important voice but it's important to avoid irrational thinking and hyperbole when being critical.
