I'm just wondering, people often throw the line "if not for anything else live for your loved ones". I agree loved ones are hard hit, but if a person has lost all his desire for living on, can he be asked to carry on and suffer with his existence just for the sake of others? Isn't that a form of emotional blackmail? I'm open to hearing conflicting views.

It is quite amazing how you are supposed to live for others because yes, it would hurt them if you died. But that logic never applies the other way round, so if you kick the fucking bucket because it hurts you to have lost someone, you deserve contempt. Hmm. That is, making people suffer your loss is only bad if it is through death, not if you go your merry way.

I mean you still should have your own choice. if you want to live for others do so but if not you shouldn't be forced to.

Living for others is really painful, I'm staying alive in the hope that someone will come back and each day that passes, hurts.

It will cause sadness to your loved ones if you died but remember, they will eventually move on after the grief stage has passed. When someone dies, they're eventually forgotten. The world goes on, with or without them. You shouldn't stay for others if you're feeling forced. If you feel like ending your life is the right thing for you, then that's what you should do. If you want to stay alive for others, you can.

Only my mother will cry for me. I have no children. This is the only consolation.

Yes it's emotional blackmail in my eyes. I've put everyone else ahead of myself for years to keep them happy, while I've suffered alone and in silence. My last act will be for myself and it will be the kindest thing I've ever done.

Yes, I do consider it emotional blackmail and it is incredibly selfish for them to force others to LIVE just so they don't feel sadness or get emotionally hurt. Personally, since I was brought into this world against my will (well every living human being is, technically speaking), so I at least deserve some agency in choosing when and in what manner I leave this world rather than letting nature or others dictate my fate.

I mean you still should have your own choice. if you want to live for others do so but if not you shouldn't be forced to.
Exactly my point. Kudos and more power to the "people" out there in the world who want to live for OTHERS and I respect them, but these people shouldn't force their will or lifestyle onto others that don't share the same sentiments as them.
