When I am in The Pit, I try little things to keep on going. Small chores around the house. Walk the dog.

Now, it is to live long enough to vote and see what the election brings.

What do you do?

I'm not even American and I'm eagerly anticipating what the election brings.

In answer to your question: indeed, routine, small chores etc. It's when they run out that I start climbing up the walls. I like to feel that every day I've accomplished something, even if it's something small. I don't push myself too far though. I'm still not capable of the things I once was. Which is really vexing to me.

My concerns about voter suppression and this election going the wrong way have got my anxiety way amped up!

I try to set up something to look forward to, like a small weekend trip or an upcoming book or film release that catches my interest. That can help.

Mostly though, I keep myself really busy with things I feel like I have to do with work, family, etc., so that I feel guilty if I don't do what others are expecting of me. If I'm busy enough, I don't get into my head so much -- although, it also sets me up to crash hard on occasion when I get too over-extended.

In the past I smoked. Up until a monthish ago I would draw. Now I put on Warcraft 3 steams and do push ups. It doesn't matter to me, as long as I'm doing something. I am guilty of succumbing to stagnancy in the past, so I'm just trying to avoid that at all costs

I try to stick to a routine...thankfully I have a job (that I dislike)...but it keeps me going in a weird way.
Other than that I Heard- being challenged physically (sports) and mentally (learn something new everyday) help.

True. Being suicidal wrecks havoc on my diet. I'm like, "I'm just gonna kill myself anyways, might as well enjoy this chocolate!"

It's been said that chocolate releases a feel good chemical. Can't remember the name. Enjoy your chocolate without any guilt any day. In my fridge there's lots of it. Maltesers buttons are my current favourite. Minstrels close second.

Recently, I collect leaves. I study trees. I make leaf litter. I make comfry feed and compost and prepare for next spring. And when I can't get outside due to rain, I try to recompile the remnants of life in front of my PC, just in case I ever have the opportunity to stand up and count again. I don't think that will happen, but if it does, I want to be prepared as best I can.
I hate the cold months but I'll use them as best I can. I long to be outside in the sun, watch things grow and learn about how things live. Now I'm stuck in my immediate environment, I've had the opportunity to learn as much as I can about what surrounds me. As long as I'm learning and experimenting, I'm strangely happy.
And I make friends with cats and dogs cuz that's just the best thing you can do.

Music keeps me going. I write songs to get things out of my system, nothing too elaborate. Some lyrics and some simple chords. I also do stuff around the house, depending on my energy levels. Feeling like I accomplished something, even if it's really small, is pretty great.

Watching Twitch streams, movies and eating chocolate. I really wish I could go out as that would help my mental health but bloody covid is preventing that.

Don't tell anyone but I write lyrics too. I prefer to sing what I can't say. But I'm not musical, I play the harmonica (badly).

That's really awesome! I've always wanted to learn how to play the harmonica, but I couldn't get it right :hihi: If I may ask, how did you start writing?

Country music. It's easy and almost formulaic. Certain artists with a turn of phrase that hit me. The harmonica is the finest instrument to me. It whines like a horny angel, it costs very little and anyone can play it without any training. I can't talk so much about what I feel, though I try on here, but i can set it down as lyrics, even if no-one will ever see them.

I take weed. Ever since I took it a few days ago, it's like it reset my brain's neurotransmitters and kicked me out of a depressive episode. It has done more for me than meds ever did which is kinda sad lol. I hope to take more soon, but it's kinda hard to hide it.

I indulge in music I enjoy. Music brings me tremendous peace and joy, and it's always available when I need it. Besides that, I like to look at the stars outside of my window at night

If you have the means to give up and not work then just doing anything you enjoy if anhedonia hasn't completely destroyed you... Ie. I still enjoy watching movies/TV even though I'm very nihilistic ultimately and think the whole of existence is a show/game.

Ifyoure lucky enough to have money for drugs/sex then indulge. People who are lucky enough to have people who naturally unconditionally love and support them that should be nice enough I can only imagine xxx
