Anyone ever been on Lithium for major depression? Did it work at all? My psych has put me on it, might give one last try at recovery... Thanks

Lithium is the only thing that has ever stopped my suicidal thoughts. I *think* it also helped elevate my mood, but when I went on Lithium, my suicidal urges went away until I went off of it again. It's the only pill that claims to do such a thing (and it works).

It will also make you fat. You'll want to eat a loaf of bread literally ALL of the time.

Lithium helped me remain stable for a good many years, but it is hard on your body over the long term. So keep an eye out for fatigue and nausea. Also make sure you drink a lot of water. Hopefully your psychiatrist explained this to you.

One of the only meds I took that actually helped me somewhat. Be sure to drink plenty of liquids though. I already had to go to the ER for dehydration cause of this and my general dumbassery.

I was on it and I gained 15 pounds in 3 weeks, but also was on olanzapine which also makes you gain weight so I'm not sure which medication it was

Olanzapine is notorious for piling weight on, it did for me

I've been on it for a few months now, since late October/early November. I don't think it's done anything for me, personally. I haven't really noticed any side effects from it. Good luck, I hope it works for you!

That was one of the drugs I overdosed on in my failed attempt. Not a good method for suicide. In regards to suppressing suicidal thoughts I guess like every medication it depends on the person.

Yes I was on it for a year maybe. To be honest I can't really remember. I think it did help somewhat. It was mild, and I didn't have no apparent side effects. I had decided to come off most of these drugs primarily because I didn't like being on five different psych meds and I'm not sure they really helped because the problems were not just a chemical imbalance. I needed to be re-educated about why I was suffering. I needed a whole worldview adjustment. I needed to be red pilled on things that I didn't understand which were mostly simple things but if u were never taught then you won't really know why u are miserable. As human beings, we are designed to live a certain way and if you don't kind of do things correctly u will suffer more than u might otherwise. Basically a lot of the reason I was suffering was because I kept harming myself maybe not intentionally, but I couldn't seem to fix it by myself anyway. I found myself in dysfunctional relationships and situations, wrong type of job, toxic people, of course I was unhappy, I had trouble in these important areas.

I've been on lithium for around two years for bipolar I. Bipolar I is basically major depressive disorder with occasional mania or psychosis. It hasn't had any effect on me and I am now up to taking 1.8 g a day. That's grams not milligrams, 900 mg twice a day. And still no effect or even side effects. I'm going to stop taking it after talking to my doctor.

Oh and if you take lithium, do not take LSD. Look up drug experiences on Erowid, LSD + lithium will send you into an extreme psychosis and often coma.

To be honest I don't remember much. All I know is the next day I could barely walk, short term memory loss, heart was racing, those are the only short term after effects I can recall. Left me partially brain damaged. You should definately use another method. The meds that are prescribed nowadays aren't fit to kill sadly.

Lithium made me feel like I was living behind glass, disconnected from reality. It was weird. Like a lot of people have said tho, it's one of the few medications found to reduce suicidal ideation so probably worth a try! Are you diagnosed with bipolar?

please do not OD on Lithium - I just looked it up, and it is nasty. Also if you do not succeed, you may well be left with damage from the attempt. I think GHB is better or Fentanyl. Amitryptiline also better - that has 8/10 efficacy on PPeH I just discovered. I am using one of those 3 methods, unless I decide on the CO method. Or the debreather when it comes out.

I've taken it for schizoaffective bipolar type for years. I don't think it helps much with depression. I have hypothyroidism now thanks lithium.
