How's it going,
I took out a 15 year term life insurance policy for my wife and daughter in 2017. It explicitly says, in the suicide clause, that if the insured dies by suicide within 2 years the policy won't pay out, save for premiums paid since the policy took effect.
I did not lie about my health conditions, depression or otherwise. However, I made an attempt in Y2K and was 5150d. The questionnaire asked if I was admitted for psychiatric conditions within the last 5 years (2012), of which I denied of course. Once my health records cleared, they offered the policy.
I'm pretty serious about doing myself in the next 4 years, once my daughter is 18. Does anyone here have any stories to share about an experience where a policy payout was denied, especially if a distant history of a suicide attempt was recorded? It seems that everyone I talk to says the insurance will flatly not pay out, clause or not. Help, please!
