Driving down the street, as much as my intellectual capacity allows me, I notice a pattern in how American society is pieced together and I pick at the edges of the wallpaper.
Roads choked with cars full of people making their way back to their many small homes which radiate outward like a bee's nest. Everything is so neatly placed together where the many pave the way for the few to obtain obscure luxuries, and vacation in places you've never heard of, simply by way of leveraging the average person's day to day needs and wants against them.
People get up early to go to their job so they can pay for their car so they can get to their job so they can purchase things they need to line the pockets of a handful of corporations that pollute the environment and create buying trends to make up the next layer on the landfill in the name of profits.
Why do we advance in medicine? To heighten the quality of life for humans, to spare us painful undignified diseases that sometimes even result in unwanted death, to allow more people that are already alive to continue living and in most cases create new lives for which to carry humankind forward to a destination that doesn't exist.
Mankind's importance and worth is self contained and its success or failure is nothing to anyone else but us.
I don't try hard to forge a place for myself among this and find any satisfaction in even a small thing, but I feel like any effort to do so is like trying to dig through concrete with my hands because I don't know if I even believe in satisfaction.
I exist to be part of a profit margin and so my parents could find purpose through the creation of another inherently purposeless life.
What the fuck.
