i think its extremely hard to overdose on oxycodone or just any types of opoids and painkillers. i thought of the same, because i was prescribed them; but from what others have said, its extremely painful and wont work most of the time. theres definitely better ways.

hope you find peace.

Yeah, and because it was easy to OD and die, those older drugs were reformulated into extended release verisons or replaced with safer alternatives. Doctors used to prescribe powerful barbiturates for sleeping disorders like they were mints, a bunch of famous people died or suicided on them, now it's damn near impossible to get a barbiturate prescription, let alone enough to OD on. That Holy Grail of peaceful death, N (pentobarbital) used to be prescribed for insomnia.

Anyway, the "formula" for prescription opioid overdose is lots of it + something else that has a depressant effect on the respiratory system (alcohol, benzos, barbiturates, etc.) + (sometimes) an antiemetic to keep it all down. (Basically the same as it was when barbiturates were easily available and that was the preferred OD suicide.) You're trying to pass out and have as much stuff in your bloodstream to stop your breathing in your sleep. It's not a particularly reliable method, though - they keep making drugs safer, and the "opiate crisis" has made it incredibly difficult to get enough prescription pills to do the job these days.

It's been suggested on here recently that the best way to OD on opiates is to inject a lethal dose of heroin/fentanyl... and I have to agree.

When I was in high school, a girl I knew accidentally ODed on Oxy, so I guess it can't be too hard.

How long ago? It used to be crushed into a ppwder and snorted, smoked or injected, but these days it's designed so that crushing it up just creates a mushy jelly that you can't do any of those things with (and still has an extended release effect rather than an immediate one). It's designed to be deliberately very difficult to OD on these days.

key word, *younger*. @Lookingforabus essentially summed it up.

multiple threads have also been made about this over the past year. maybe you'll find answers and reassurances through reading them.
