For those intrepid or forlorn souls that do not fear death, legend has it that among the stacks in a public library somewhere in the world there exists a cursed book. It's only a few hundred pages in length. Anyone who reads this cursed book will die. It might not happen for 80 or 100 years, but if you read this book you will die!

There is tons of ways to invite death in from occult means, but none are instant if death's already a friend or better option then they will simply drain your life you thought you didn't have piece by piece and slowly eat your thoughts too until there's nothing left. But something of you will suffer till the last minute. Occult isn't evil but the majority of people that use it are.

That's the joke: the book is claimed to be "cursed", but death might take 80 or 100 years. Since that timeframe amounts to a normal human lifespan, anyone who reads (or doesn't read) it would die regardless.
