Help lack of instruction for inert gas and panic

hello.
one of my friend tried this method with argon gas , but he says he got panic. he says that he dont know what happen but he suddenly waked up while get off mask from his face.
I saw another thread that people talking about one Olympic athlete that doing this method with helium and wakes up without mask in the bathroom..! like she is wake up and even walking without she notice!
It seems IT IS NECESSARY step that band our hands and even feet .
I dont see that ppeh or other sources mention this but i think it's a MUST not just an optional step.
and im sure that my friend's gas is pure cause he bought the gas for laboratory usage that need to be completely pure . he used exit bag .
I want to try nitrogen and EEBD hood instead . and of course a handcuff .
If you got panic, can you please tell what was your setup and feel ? and if you have video of it please send me . Thanks

I wish I had answers for you; but I am not well-versed on the inert gas method. Hopefully others will see your post after I bump it with my comment. :)

The exit bag is meant to create a 100% N2/H/Ar atmosphere while getting rid of exhaled C02.

I believe the problem your friend has met has to do with the weight of Argon and/or his position:

Helium, N2 and Ar don't "weight" the same, argon is the heavier of the three. It is possible that with a weak flow argon exited by the bottom of the bag faster than CO2 or that air got inside the bag.

Nitrogen and EEBD hood, you can't go wrong there, that EEBD hood is on really tight
