• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

Hey, it's been exactly two weeks since my attempt. Currently in the ward. I received a letter from my dorm's landlord today that she wants me out of the property in two weeks on the basis that she felt disturbed by the police intervention in her house and my dorm (my studio is basically a room in her house) and her and her children feel unsafe in the possibility of another attempt happening. Legally speaking, i'm getting kicked out on the basis of "illicit practices" cuz I overdosed on illegal drugs.

Of course I feel super shaken by this. I loved living there. Not only do I lose my housing, but also a bunch of memories tied to that place. Especially the lack of basic empathy, in this situation, but also in interactions with other people since my attempt, disturbs me. Everyone is so self-absorbed with the effect my attempt had on their lives that they forget what drives someone to attempt in the first place.

Looking into legal information now to somehow get to stay there. I have nothing to look forward to anymore. Really loved that place

what the fuck !!! i'm so sorry, that's such an odd thing for your landlord to do. i'm getting pissed off just reading this, that is really so selfish of her
unfortunately people are quite cruel and an attempt doesn't seem to change that
sending you so much love and peace, hopefully you can get everything sorted and find something to bring passion into your life, and fuck your landlord!

Contact a lawyer. The laws are different state to state.

Talked about it with my mom and all she said was: "look at it from her side". The people treating me like shit aren't looking at it from my side either, are they?

Yeah, I'm looking into it. So far I've found sources claiming that she has to give me at least 3 months before I have to leave the property. She can't kick me out in 2 weeks. I wouldn't be able to afford a lawyer and my parents don't seem interested in fighting my landlord. I think the smartest move would be to contact a mediator, but still that has a price tag

I'm so sorry, depending on which country you live in, a landlord can't kick you out with such short notice, the length of time has to be appropriate to ensure you can find a new place to live. You need some sort of low cost legal aid from a solicitor who specializes in working with disadvantaged clientele.

While I recognize that having police presence around children can be traumatic, and that is certainly a valid concern on their behalf, the comments she made about it being "disturbing" for her are greatly lacking in empathy. How does she feel "unsafe" when there are police there? Sounds like excuses because she has some perceived bone to pick with drug users.

God forbid she ever struggle in her life, would she want other people to find her own sickness or pain to be disturbing? Does she find hospitals to be "disturbing" places too, because they house sick people, who are often escorted by paramedics or police? I'm sorry you have to deal with these sort of ignorant people, she needs to be educated in how to speak to a suicidal person, but unfortunately I think many of the landlord class are woefully out of touch. I'm so sorry your parents aren't helping you with this either.

Where I live, a landlord has to give you at least 3 months. However I'm pretty sure my parents don't want to be paying another 3 months of rent while I am in the psych ward. I texted my landlord today asking if it is possible to keep the property until the end of March so I have enough time to move out.

The children are 14 and 19 years old, I'm unsure if they were even at home during the intervention. The eldest was committed to a ward too in his childhood, so it's not like my landlord is completely oblivious to mental health issues. I always thought of her as a nice woman. She teaches at my school and isn't stuck up like most landlords. Just a single mom that needs the extra income of a tenant.

She knows that I'm not a frequent drug user either. I stopped touching drugs years before I even moved in. She was informed that I only purchased and used the drugs in order to take my own life.

What bothers me the most isn't the loss of a place I loved or the memories attached. I'm already greatly struggling, but am now being cut off from my whole social circle and ambulant mental health providers because they're all located in that city.

little update: i'm not getting more time than March 10th to move out cuz my landlord is busy between the 10th and 18th and wouldn't have enough time to find a tenant for April if we move out after the 18th. So if I do want more time, I'm gonna have to pay April's rent too
