I mostly want to keep other people safe, period. I can't stand the idea of putting other people, possibly children, in danger. So, no, jumping from a freeway overpass or a building, for example, does not work. I could put someone else's life in danger, and yes, that matters. Can you even imagine being the person who jumped from a freeway overpass and completely traumatized an entire family who was just headed off for a family vacation? Nope, not OK. I want to end my life in a way that does NO danger to anyone else. I also consider, always, the person that will find me. I'd prefer that person was a cop. So....this is why we think about this before we do it. How can we keep others safe? I have no suggestion other than shooting myself straight through the mouth and BAM. And doing so out in the "wilderness", of sorts, whatever that may be. Calling 911 right beforehand, or not. Bottom line, if we are going to kill ourselves, we must consider other people. We have to always consider others. Always. We are going to break someone's heart regardless, so let's do so as easily as possible. With the least damage.

I did read a news report a while back of a jumper who landed on a passer by and killing him and the jumper surviving. For me the delayed email is the best option or hotel room with a big notice outside the closed bathroom door telling housekeeping not to open the door and call the police. Unfortunately not everyone has that ability for complete privacy but you are right Bea, other people should be a consideration to limit further trauma to the event.

I am also trying to avoid damaging other people as much as possible. I'm having a bit of a problem figuring out where to send the delayed email about finding my body. The local police/ fire departments don't have an email address so I'll have to either contact the friend who will be taking care of my affairs or the manager of my condo building. I'd rather not involve him because he's a nice guy and doesn't deserve any extra trauma in his life but I know he always looks at his emails. I'm not so sure about my friend. It would be better to send her a text but apparently the iPhone I have can't do delayed texts. I don't want my body sitting here too long and contaminating the building for my neighbors who are generally nice people. But I definitely want to die in my own bed. I'll be taking N and want to give it at least 12 hours to work- preferably 24. I was thinking about sending it to my friend first and scheduling another for the manager a day or two later just in case she doesn't check her mail in time.Telling my friend to notify him when she finds out. She'll need to be in contact with him anyway because she's inheriting the apartment. I was originally most worried about traumatizing my friend but I think she's kind of written me off which is sad but less for me to worry about. Sorry if I've derailed your thread but I hope it's mostly on topic and I'd appreciate any thoughts.

I'm kind of an idiot when it comes to technology. What's a jail broken phone? I'm worried I wouldn't do something right and my neighbors would be alerted by the stench :ehh: Also I'm on the same phone plan with my friend and wouldn't want her to find out / suspect anything.

Dont worry about the jailbroken thing, you don't need it. Just download the free app it points to in the app store and read the instructions

exactly and i would never do anything that would possibly put any innocent people at risk ever. i also think methods like suicide by cop is wrong and unethical, why traumatize them? Most police are actually kind people.

for me i'm too private for that stuff anyway, my ctb will be silent...
