Exactly! I know this would be a beautiful annual thing. I wish we could make a little town where all of the suicidal people come together and as an annual tradition we drink the magic potion to die and finally be released from pain. We could actually make one on the grounds that we invent a new religion. However, the screening for this would be extensive because the only ones that would be allowed are those that are completely and utterly sure that they want to leave. As in a mental evaluation is needed to come in. I've already have a lot of the regulations thought out. Because I know there are those people who are just suicidal but don't want to die, which we want to prevent from convincing people that they should die. Their mind should have already be made up and they need to have documentation that they have tried everything already to be happy (stable/ not mentally ill) but treatment is not working. Just things like that. We should do it definitely (jk-wink wink) prívate message?

How to go about it! I find most people just joke around but when it comes down to it, you're all alone in your hotel room contemplating wether to drink it or not and then you don't. I have enough background knowledge/chemistry to know basic reactions and do extensive research on methods before commuting, but definitely up for it.

I hope your intoxicated state isn't blinding you. I found that when I'm sober, I am more logical and can critically make my choices. This (suicide) is something I've thought about logically and find conclusively more appealing than just letting life take me. I think I never had a choice in life. Ever, but with this I always have a choice and my choice is to go. That I am 100% sure about.

Would be great. I hope someone smarter and more powerful one day sees this and makes it happen. If so, I am so down. Would love to die with people who view the world in a similar way. If you're out there person, may god bless you if there is one and make it happen.

Yeah a lot of those people were murdered.

A lot of them were black socialists who were desperate for somewhere to turn after the state repression of their movements.

There's a good novel aboout it by Sikivu Hutchinson whose family was impacted by it

Yeah, not advocating for murder here. That's horrible. Many lives taken that didn't want to go. That is sad, but I guess I was referring to a consent to die.

One of the posters above is correct - many of the people involved were murdered. Those who were unwilling to drink the poison were injected.

The babies and children were killed first, usually in their mother's arms. It is thought by many that this was done to insure that the mothers would go willingly afterward.

Jim Jones himself did not swallow the poison but was shot in the head, choosing to die by gunshot than to follow his people in the way he demanded they die.

The vat contained an unholy stew of cyanide, Flavor-Aid, tranquilizers and whatever drugs were contained in the project's medical office.

The last minutes of some of the followers were recorded on tape for posterity. It is widely available on the web. The screaming and crying is haunting.

Please don't use Jonestown as something to be emulated. It was hell for the people there and is hell for their relatives every day since. Since we can never know how many of those people went willingly, it is unfair to think of it as a suicidal act.

Yes, this is 100% correct. I apologize for my ignorance. It was not a suicidal act. It is a terrible terrible thing. Poor people. How agonizing and painful death. No one deserves that. This is the reason I guess we are all here to try to at least minimize the discomfort.
