5 Overdoses, 3 hangings, 1 slit throat attempt, 2 poisonings, 3 attempts to get hypothermia, 2 attempts at detergent suicide, 1 dehydration, a bad attempt at water intoxication, a drowning, and I threw myself in front of a car when I was 12.
Apparently 1 out of 25 suicide attempts work, so I'll get there eventually. It seems that at this rate though, it'll take a few more years.
Feel free to ask for advice on what not to do during a method.

Hey. Sorry to hear you had to go through all that. What was your hanging method, full or partial? If full, how did you manage to survive?

Two full, one partial. I was pretty cheap with the full suspension hangings, mostly since I didn't have a way I could buy actual rope, since I was 13-15 at the time. I had to use objects I found around my house. I ended up using a cheap jump rope for my first hanging attempt, it snapped within a few minutes. The second I used a sturdy USB cord, and I tested it to make sure it wouldn't break. This time, I tied it too loosely, and ended up being able to struggle out of it.
Basically, I didn't use a proper ligature, and didn't tie it as tightly as possible.

Wow, how old are you? Have you considered Sodium Nitrite?

I'm 18 right now. I'm considering SN, but from what I've read sodium azide is a lot quicker to kill and easier to get. I'll probably only use SN if azide fails.

I have read that sodium azide is a lot more painful and hence is not a popular method of choice on this forum. There is a megathread with information on azide.

I know, I'm mostly only looking into it because it's faster. Thanks for telling me about the mega thread.
Something probably is telling me that, unfortunately.

Sorry to hear about your many attempts. I agree with Soulless_Angel, though I know that does not make things better. So you haven't tried jumping, if I may ask? I have been thinking about that method a lot.

I suspect you've managed to keep a sense of humour throughout all this, which is very important.

When I was asked if I have a plan to commit suicide, I asked the psychiatrist if they wanted my plan A, B, C or D.

There was a poster in his office which read "suicide is not an option". When he asked me which plan I was leaning toward, I told him I'm not suicidal anymore, thanks to the poster. True story.

Jumping is impossible where I live. The only building that's tall enough to guarantee death is a office building, and I have no way to get into it.

I heard the aftermath of drinking detergent is very painful and can cause organ damage. Were you okay after drinking it?

Water intoxication? Is that drinking so much water that it kills you? I've thought about doing it that way. Can you tell us more about that one?

I have Aspergers, so it's impossible for me to get a job, get married. If I live, I'll either end up as homeless, or lonely and miserable.
That's water intoxication. It's pretty hard to pull off, since you have to drink at least 17 bottles. I got to about 7 or 8 before I started feeling extremely nauseous, and my stomach felt like it was burning. There were almost no after effects besides that, though. It's almost impossible to force yourself to drink so much within such a small gap of time, so that's why most cases involve drugs like ecstasy, or multiple days without water beforehand.

Tbh if I lived through these attempts at this point, I'll reconsider if it's not my time yet.

Drowning came the closest. If I had stayed asleep for a few seconds longer, I might have finally died.

How much water was in each bottle?

How did the detergent method fail? I was under the assumption that the person is rendered unconscious after a couple of breaths of the gas... and it didn't work twice?

Did the OD's leave any prolonged issues? (any nerve damage or organ damage etc)

16 ounces per bottle.
Detergent can fail if the room is ventilated, or you don't use enough of the items to create a mixture. You generally need about 5 bottles of whatever cleaning supplies you're using. I only used 3. The second time I must have left the car door open a crack or something, I just didn't die for some reason.
I have some nerve damage. I can barely hold my hand in the air for more than a second before it starts twitching.

Do you remember what chemicals you used exactly?
