It's 23.09 and cities all over Italy are overflooded with people protesting against the last DPCM (some sort of emergency law), that bans cinemas, theatres, restaurants and bars from operating.
As you mostly know Italy was already in recession. 3000 suicides since 2008's crisis, due to job reasons.
During lockdown, Italy provided 600€+600€ emergency fund as well as CIG (some sort of emergency salary) which is 80% of your previous salary.
You get to know that if 1200€ was your previous salary, living with 450 € is awful (yes, your CIG gets taxed). CIG didn't arrive for most people for SIX MONTHS, because we're broke. There's been little to no aid for private companies.
Now we're at 21k cases per day because we can't afford a more efficient public transport service. ICUs are already full.
People are basically starving.

I'm living literally in a civil war.

How does your country cope with covid atm?

3 million? Or 3k? That's a big difference. Here in the US it's 40k per year and I think "Damn, really? That's a lot of suicides." At the same time, out of 320m+, it's not. It just goes to show you it's all a matter of perspective.

Governments around the world, and the financial and global elites who tell them what to do, have decided that a virus which only produces mild symptoms for the majority of people is more important than all the economic hardships, mental breakdown, lack of medical care for other conditions, and suicides, resulting from all the lockdowns and 'safety' measures.
Governments don't give a shit about people and are using the virus as an excuse for a power grab and further scaling down on civil liberties and human rights.

Is Italy in a recession because of 'covid' or was it already in one before?

We were already in a recession but we're entering in a very, very deep recession.
I also received the news that another small business owner killed himself half an hour ago.

I remember hearing that Italy was supposedly particularly affected by the virus. Apparently there is a much closer link between China and Italy than I realized. I personally find it all very suspicious. Anyway, even if I didn't I'd still be pissed off if I was Italian. Destroying the whole economy based on a slightly higher rate of infection during a flu season and then locking the planet down to ensure economic death is pretty bold.

That's quite awful and stressful. My heart goes out to all of you dealing with such miserable conditions, and how this will effect the next generation. Covid is winning the war in so many countries.

American are too dumb to know what Covid is, so first week back at school we all got a nasty cold and had to be Covid tested.

Death rate in Italy is actually 5% atm
The problem isn't represented at all by covid deaths, our hospitals are cockroach houses espcially in the south

Here in California, you're basically immune to Covid as long as you wear a mask (though you can take it off if you feel like it as long as it's hugging your chin) and pray to Biden, our lord and savior who is sure to save the entire world from this crisis. Seriously, that's the only explanation for why traffic is back to the way it was before and everyone ignores social distancing. Also, almost everything is open too.

11 years ago, over 60 million people in the United States were infected with the H1N1 swine flu that was related to the lethal 1918 pandemic strain, but the US lucked out with only 12,469 deaths out of 273,304 hospitalizations.

By contrast, fewer than nine million (8,617,022) have been infected with COVID-19 in the US so far.
