Is there an off-site chat?

I know there is a chat feature on here. My problem is I do not want to talk on a thread about my problems, because it is more permanent and all of this. So I don't think I'll be able to accrue a post count high enough to chat, since I am not just going to pollute the forum with a bunch of shit just to get a higher post count. And Telegram I am skeptical about because it requires a phone number. I have telegram but I use it very rarely for this reason. Is there a Matrix or XMPP chat or anything of this nature that I can use instead? I would like to be able to talk to people in a room or something.
