Feeling numb can be an improvement over feeling pain. However, the disconnection of numbness can be a pain of its own. It might be an interesting experiment if you can identify a single source of pain and see what changes you can make to see what control you can exercise. Even if you make things worse, it might point to a way to next make it better.
For example if you talk when you shouldn't or say things that are misunderstood, you can experiment by remaining silent when you might otherwise speak. Conversely, If you do not speak when you should, you might experiment with speaking up when you otherwise might remain silent.
