Life's sick joke is us; death is the punchline.

It amazes me to see how many catlovers are here and are pressured to put down their cats due to circumstances, whether they are sick or imposed by the government.
It starts to occur to me that perhaps this is a sign that society is completely collapsing, since cats have always up to now been benevolent and crucial to our survival as a species. It was cats that saved our crops from being destroyed, our cows and even us from disease from exploding rodent populations. Yet now the people in charge want to limit their numbers and have them suffer in cages in shelters. Councils imposing only 2 cats per household regardless if one can care for them or not, and can find or kick people out of their homes for it.
Am I crazy or should this be a sign of the end?
