Oh, do private messages not actually work on here unless certain user status or something? I had tried once (well, twice) and got no response, but just figured recipient ignored; I didn't think it just didn't work.

I admitted myself years ago, it just made me more suicidal. Nothing that went on in there was beneficial at all. Maybe it'll help you though.

You may be able to look up reviews/ratings of specific facilities near you? I think it could definitely help, I wouldn't be here right now if I hadn't been admitted, but it can vary a lot from place to place

You have to make a certain amount of posts. Then you can send private messages.

I had a friend who was really passionate about how getting admitted into the hospital helped her mental health. She's better now! Married, pregnant, in the coast guard, just generally doing good. If you're probably going to die anyway, I think it's worth a shot šŸ˜ƒ

I consider it worth trying if the hospitals in your area are decent. Look up reviews. The hospital is different every time because it changes based on what other patients are in there with you. I had a really good experience when I got detained last year tbh.

If you do go, do everything you can to avoid escalating while there. If you feel yourself getting upset, go tell the staff that you need help calming down and ask for some medicine or for someone to come help you deescalate. This is what the staff want you to do. If you freak out on staff, you're gonna get restrained which is a terrible experience.

It really depends on where you land and the staff. It never helped me regardless. But when the staff was genuine and truly tried I had no feelings about it. However in another hospital where the staff was downright rude and made minimally required effort it truly made me much worse and I lied saying I didn't wanna ctb just so I could leave.

As someone said look up reviews for that hospital. And know this, there is nothing they can do inside the hospital they don't already do outside the hospital. They just put you on meds, or switch your meds. If you're lucky they'll give you individual therapy. But from my experience that's not the norm. Just group stuff where they just tell you coping skills you already read about the internet.
