Hey, first post in a while so apologies if I'm not responsive but hope this doesn't cause any trouble. Anyway is it okay or wrong? Especially in regards to inform them about the methods they choose ones in which that aren't going to work or that may do more harm than good? I've linked the site to about 5 people before whom I thought were genuinely suicidal after reading their posts on Reddit I've come across mostly on whatever suicide subreddits that are left or random threads that aren't censored to the max. One example where I think it's wrong is where obviously we can't know if a user is underaged so does that possibility by itself make sharing the site wrong? I didn't think about that possibility until afterwards since I thought I was helping them not make a huge mistake. Also the fact that if more people come here for information on how to kill themselves the more unwanted attention the site gets. Any other reasons?

I'm not sure there's a right or wrong answer to this. I'd be sceptical of doing it as I wouldn't want to have any responsibility in someone else's death (if it was related in someway to me linking them to this site). However, anyone that you link to here should have the capacity to make their own informed decisions. I guess for me it depends on your motives for why you did it.

Nah, not from a moral standpoint, because it's pro-choice here, not pro-suicide. There are so many "is this really what you want?" questioning people around that it is getting annoying.

But for your own good it could be wrong. If you know them very well and they know you and they try to CTB and they fail and get into the loony bin where they get put on drugs and questioned and they mention that you are too, you might be in it for a holiday in the loony bin too.

I suspect people find their own way here if they are serious.

And welcome back Circles :smiling:

I don't think it is "wrong" per se, but rather risky and can lead to problems. I never mention this site to anyone IRL because I know things will get awkward at best and at worst, they may be 'concerned' and the last thing I want is people to try to meddle into my already 'shitty' life just so they can feel better about themselves.

So in short, I don't think it's a good idea due to the risks and (potential) consequences that comes from people IRL knowing about this site. If others out there find their way, then it's fine but just bringing it up can arouse suspicion which is something I wish to avoid.

I'm a bit unsure because I can see where you're coming from and that it makes sense for them to find a place like this but part of me is put off because it seems like if they do die because of stuff on here then you did have a part in that? Especially from their relatives if they find it.

I found this website from a Panorma documentary though so I guess people have to find it somewhere.

There is nothing wrong with linking this site to other people even if they aren´t actively planning suicide but just have suicidal thought they at least have this sanctuary to vent about there problems which is something you can´t do on any other forum and I am not just talking reddit but other sites as well, every time I would just mention the word 'suicide' I would get a warning, get my post deleted or even banned and people wonder why suicidal people don´t reach out more? Because when we do we get burnt.

Regarding of age, age has nothing to do with it, I have been suicidal since the end of age 13/ beginning of 14 and had I killed myself back then I would have spared myself for over a decade of pain and misery. The majority on this site and people in general of the people I have known who are suicidal was since their early teen years it was basically the hormonal changes from entering puberty that caused our suicidal thoughts so we were predetermined to suffer all our life, I have seen no one who was suicidal from their early teens fully recover and become as happy as they were as a child.

So imo if you become suicidal as a teenager even as a tween end it as quickly as possible because you will spare yourself a lifetime of suffering, the only people I see actually recover are adults like people in their twenties or thirty plus because their depression is usually short lived and brought on by bad events happening in their life e.g. losing a loved one, getting divorced, losing a job etc.

Cause I wanted to inform them of their chosen methods so they don't get hurt. I think one downside to censoring and not being able to talk about methods is that most people seem to think you can die just by simply taking sleeping pills and alcohol, slitting your wrists, overdosing on prescription meds, or whatever other half-ass method that won't kill them but will sure make them suffer more. Every method has risks and people should be informed what they're getting themselves into before making a big mistake and perhaps becoming disabled.

That's definitely fair! As someone who has taken 3 paracetamol ODs I can see where you're coming from. It's just such a difficult balance to get. Maybe you could just say that there's pro choice suicide websites? It wasnt that hard to find for me.

I think this site is easily found, if someone is suicidal they will probably stumble across it.
