Do some of you think if someone was to ctb now or attempt to and it potentially failed it would be a scummy thing to have done, if it adds to the weight of doctors and nurses who already have to look after COVID patients? Just asking out of curiosity as to what some of you think?

I would personally feel very bad if I was "saved" and sent to the hospital after a failed attempt. Especially since I do not want to live, and so many sick people do. I guess I either be very sure I succeed, or wait until things settle down.
If, on the other hand, somebody really needs help and wants to live, he/she should not feel bad about being in the hospital for mental health treatment

Perhaps if making a suicidal gesture, maybe yes.

Gestures are a valid expression of suffering, but perhaps folks can find an alternate way of expressing their pain that won't potentially impact the overburdened healthcare infrastructure, at least during the current time.

Not really.

Also the reality is that if the quarantines stay around long enough there will be an increase in suicides anyways. A lot of people are already depressed and unsatisfied with their lives. Losing their jobs, facing a recessed economy where getting a new job will be way more difficult, and being forced to be quarantined will push some people over the edge and they'll commit suicide.

I've already noticed on TV that there's a lot more advertisements about preventing people from suicide and dealing with depression. I don't think people will view a suicide as being selfish during this time, rather they'll probably think the virus is what pushed you over the edge but you were already dealing with a bunch of shit so they'll just have sympathy for you.

I don't think it's selfish at all but you don't want to have a failed attempt and get saved. Maybe if you are sure that you won't fail, that would be okay.

If one attempts with SN and is rescued, they're going to be on oxygen, not sure about a ventilator, would have to look at the SN successes and failures threads to see if any survivors of the method mentioned ventilators. If it's an area that's already dealing with covid patients, then the resources for breathing assistance are going to be stretched, so it could potentially take away resources from someone with covid who wants to recover and live.

I guess. Still, if they choose to take a suicide patient instead of a person with covid-19, it will be their fault entirely, not yours.
