No it is not. Not illegal. Is strange travel with SN.

SN can buy in any drug store. It is a fertiliser. Very common.
I f you worried about any issue, declare it to customs.
Worse thing can happen will be that customs take SN.

I wonder. If you remove SN from its original bottle and put it in like a Vitamin C powder bottle, would it degrade the chemical?

SN is said to be sensitive to air, turning into NaNO3 which is not suitable for ctb purpose. How-to's say the container should be unsealed at the very last instant.

I'm from the US and anything in powder form arouses suspicion. Example. I even had an issue once with my juggling balls. They were stuffed with quinoa. But they did a full check and all of that. At worse they'll just throw it out since it's not an illegal substance.

I'm sure you could just get it in France. Since it is used for food processing. I think I've read about some people having difficulty getting an in Spain.

If you're an Amazon or eBay person, I'm sure they could ship it to France for you. And if that doesn't work. And if nothing else some laboratory, chemical supplier, you'll probably have to buy in a much larger amount though I can imagine.
Most people on here say that "prolonged exposure" to air/oxygen, leads to degradation. But that can be taken different ways. So, yeah, if I just keep it open, without a cap. That's a bad thing. But how bad is opening it up right away, and then resealing? Even you reseal it with something like ser in wrap before putting the cap back on. Air/oxygen already got in contact with it, and will remain inside the contain. Which is why I think, and I've seen some other people mention on here as well. To keep it sealed until the last moments. And that seems like a pretty decent idea just to avoid just any just in case situations.

Opening it up to air then resealing it is perfectly fine. Remember that your SN most likely came from a bigger bag so it was already unsealed once. Prolonged exposure to air is what affects it.

Wow
Check here with the TSA :https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/all

Heres a link to Paris Charles DeGaule airport no nos : https://easycdg.com/passenger-information/security-luggage-liquids-prohibited-items-cdg/

Beyond that, double check local and federal laws in both places where you'll be leaving and landing/staying. Id carry it in a salt shaker with a sealable lid. If questioned, its a special salt you need for dietary reasons.
. Wow, Inkblot! This was such a thorough, helpful post! Are you a frequent traveler, by chance?

I wouldn't try to disguise it as it only arouses suspicion. Keep it in its original packing with the label and safety warnings on it

Maybe you can buy SN from amazon or ebay while you are in France?

I'm leaving money for my boyfriend if he decides to have my body shipped back. All the money in my savings account will go to him. I met with a lawyer last year and already wrote out my will.

I have read suggestions like these on the forum. Although I am not in France, but still in EU and the problem is....Amazon will tell you it doesn´t ship to where you are at check out. I´ve tried that. Other sellers do not sell to other than schools - companies and such, because word got out that people use it to CTB. So they will not sell it to consumers.

The stuff we can buy here for , let´s say curing meat, contains only a few percent SN , ie useless for our purpose.

So bringing it with you might be the only option. Unless anyone knows of another source ?

Thank you for the information, that's really helpful, I didn't know that before.

Optimistically speaking, SN seems a reliable way to ctb, certified by EU.

And take a COSHH sheet with you. Looks impressive. And professional.

If it's legal over here and if it's legal over there then you definitely won't get in trouble. The worst that would happen is that they would throw it out.

I'm in the EU and have purchased 99% SN from ebay with no problems.

i see that some sites are starting ask why you bought SN, but i'm prett condfident that you can say some general excuses (usually that your father/grandfather/uncle makes ham or sausages, in italy is very common) and they will not question further.
As said by other user, SN is totally free (like if you buy sugar).
