Yes and no. In the case everything goes right and you can block the blood flow through the carotids perfectly (or break your neck, by falling down, using the hangmans knot, as it is done in executions) then I guess it 's pretty much painless. The problem arises when perfect circumstances are not met. It may lead to suffocation and heavy SI kicking in.
To me personally hanging is a cruel and unriliable method which I do not consider for myself. However done correctly it is pretty much effective, especially full suspension hanging is 100% in any case.

Based on many posts it appears that there is a strong likelihood it will be very distressing, and it can go on for a long time, and it you are rescued partway through you may end up as a very disabled person. There are definitely risks with this method, as with all methods. If a person is going to try to ctb, doing a lot of research helps a person's chances. It's best to fully explore options for recovery first, in my opinion, including if you like posting m this site what the issues are to see if people have ideas that could help.

In partial hanging is painful for 15 seconds approximately. after that you'll lose consciousness and never feel anything.

i believe it's one of those methods that really provokes ones' survival instinct, but imo, it's not really that painful... it kinda depends on the person? like, idk, i suppose i'm just fucked enough to enjoy the weird high one gets when choked out.

I would recommend watching videos on watch people die because there is a lot of videos of people using hanging as a suicide method (if you don't mind seeing people dying)
I only mentioned that so you get some techniques and see how long it might take for them to lose consciousness after handing themselves. Upon looking at the videos though most of them managed to die within 3 minutes.

But I did research once in the past, and it was written on a Japanese site that the lymph nodes on both sides of the neck have different sizes depending on age and gender. And the pain from hanging is due to pressure on the glands, the only way to find out is to test it yourself.

No. If done correctly, you will be unconscious within seconds and clinically dead within 3-5 minutes. After that, the only two dangers are 1) The ligature snapping or 2) someone discovering you and cutting you down, both of which can result in a lifetime of disability, pain (physical, psychological, and financial). If you survive with brain damage, it's going to be a very unpleasant ride for everyone involved. Make sure you do it right and leave nothing to chance.
I've been flirting with it today, hanging while using my hands to hold onto the bar. If I don't go unconscious quickly I can imagine it being very very uncomfortable. I'm concerned how long it would take me to pass out from it?
If done right you will be gone in less than 3 minutes, I mean that's what I have noticed from the videos that I have seen online.
No you will be gone even in less than a minute if you do everything right. There is a lot of videos of people hanging themselves on gore websites.

Yeah I can't really bring myself to watch other people do it even if I myself want to. I'm hoping I have everything right and can just be done with it.

I found the sweet spot. My whole body is tingling and I see white light after about a minute. I can still can breathe but the blood is cut of so it's not painful. It's only painful on my skin if I don't use padding.

Unconsciousness can accour after a minute aswell. I'm not choking I can still breath but the bloodflow is cut off. I'm not doing it for pleasure. I'm practicing for next week when I'll have the chance to do it undisturbed.

Survivor of complete hanging attempt here. I only remember it turning to black, there was no pain whatsoever for me. But it's also possible it was so painful that my brain blocked it out.
However the aftermath if u survive is concerning. I was extremely lucky to survive with no long term injuries or brain damage, just some scars around my neck and popped blood vessels in the face. Hope this helps
I'm sorry your attempt failed. But may I ask how you "rescued" yourself or have you been found too early because according to my understanding there is no chance to escape full supension if done correctly.
