Chronic pain caused from, which are not limited to, chronic depression or schizophrenia (or alike disorders) are valid ways of exiting. Contrary to a widely held opinion that mental health suffers do not have the capacity to make decisions on their own life, they in fact have the sufficient capacity of discernment to make their own decisions to seize existing. A disclaimer is necessary that no one can tell you to exit. This is only a way of validating mental health as a form of chronic pain.

There are two short film documentaries that I've made threads about that showcase two individuals who had voluntarily euthanization because of mental health struggles. Perhaps you may want to watch them!

DBT is another form of counselling? Oh sorry I thought you meant cognitive behavioural therapy, from the context, never mind...

Many diseases are chronic (diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.). I wouldn't say that simply because something is chronic makes it a valid reason, that would be up to you.

The painted picture is freedom of suicide. It's a validation of someone's inequalities in life. When these inequalities are determinental to us, we're given arbitrary comments that follow suit with "this is life". Life comes with injustices and suffering. While you are right, it is only up to the person, my comment was more-or-less validating a legal form of euthanasia that clinics validate.

Pain is merely subjective. My pain is going to be different from how you interpret pain. By denying "simply because something is chronic makes it a valid reason", it could be misconstrued as you're denying someone the freedom to erase themselves from the genes they've inherited.

Is cbt only option for mental illness ?
Decades of meds, therapy etc no change

Sorry, your post is a little unclear.

Do you mean CBT (cognitive-behavioural therapy) or CTB (catching the bus, suicide)? Clarifying that will enable us to answer you better.

For some, but some people actually "heal" from mental illness like depression, some dont. For them this might be the only way.

Suicide is never the only option for mental illness, but mental illness is certainly a common reason for suicide. Only you can truly decide whether the decades of medication and therapy you have experienced are as good as things are going to get, and only you can weigh up the benefits of ending this pain against the hurt suicide may cause your family. People here can certainly help you with both methods and with weighing up your options, but unfortunately a question like your initial one is too broad for us to really answer.
