I've been using a twisted sheet thrown over a door and fastened to a doorknob but I can't really get it to work out.

I used a rope tied to a doorknob.

I have the same problem :( guess we'll have to keep on trying until it eventually works out... I'm in my 'preparing' stage, and already tried to make myself faint two times, both unsuccessful. It only made my head and teeth ache, for some reason.

In a video, a teen died playing the "choking" game. He really bore down on his belt and passed out in less than 15 seconds. His flaw was the belt was secured too high and he never made it to the floor. It looks like you need to press into it with your full weight. You also need a tie off that is high enough to keep the pressure at 100%.
It is replicating full suspension in a shorter space. Nothing gentle about it.

Same problem here. I had better luck with the garrote technique and lost consciousness briefly but still woke up after what seemed like a few minutes at most. As far as I can tell the problem has to do with compressing the jugular veins (causing the pain and pressure) and not just the carotid arteries. It's clear where the carotids are from the palpable pulse, but I can't get the hang of compressing them alone. No pun intended, lol.

I had an image at one time but can't find it quickly. Basically it's not hanging but still asphyxiation. You use a ligature (flexible, not too stretchy, and kind of soft for comfort) wrapped around your neck and twisted, and pass a rod (a wooden spoon works well) through the twist or loop and then spin the rod over and over to tighten the ligature. With the right size rod it won't come untwisted on its own even if you pass out because the end will catch against your head or shoulder. So you can manually tighten it to the point of unconsciousness and then if all goes well it will stay in place until death occurs.

The best thing about it was less jugular compression, so minimal discomfort, and no tracheal compression, so I could still breathe with little restriction as I got lightheaded and the room went dark and I passed out. Must not have had it tight enough though, because I still woke up.

I still had red ligature marks and petechiae all over my face and neck (little red spots from burst blood vessels) afterwards, but I don't know if that came from the partial hanging attempt or the garrote attempt just after. Didn't go over too well when I gave up for the night and went to work though. Lol...like a comic nightmare.

How long do those spots stay? Do they disappear completely?

How long did you have a ligature mark?

Found the thread and image I was looking for. The tourniquet method is what they call it here.

https://sanctioned-suicide.net/threads/tourniquet-method-guide.1203/

How long did you have a ligature mark?

Just 2-3 days. My ligature was silk, not too much chafing.

Hooray for turtlenecks. The petechiae were harder to hide, I would have known at a glance what it was but I guess the people I work with are less familiar with signs of recent suicide attempts. They still noticed the slightly brain-damaged demeanor and the thousand-yard stare though. Not a fun conversation to have with your boss. If any of you find yourselves in that situation, call in sick. I was too out of it to think of that apparently.

Yeah, they are totally gone now, they faded over about 3 days. It was pretty noticeable at first though.

Partial hanging is not an easy method to master.
Because each try is different -the angle you use your body weight, if the rope moves during the deed, the position that your body moves after you pass out - many factors. And each factor may effect the final outcome. So it's hard to really come up with the 'perfect calculation'. You can come up with a rough one and hope for the best.
Also to pass out from partial is difficult because you must not slowly ease into the position but instead - quickly. And takes a lot of practise to find the right 'spot'. Best is to use the sudden sit down motion virtigo to get yourself lightheaded as the method takes in.

This comes from exp.. I've tried this method like a million times.

Hanging is odd because it's presented as being a peaceful way out, similar to shooting yourself, but in reality you're invoking a brutal form of torture/execution upon yourself

There's a reason why they tried to make the drop break your neck after a while in legitimate executions

I have had this problem as well.
Eventually I get so tired of trying to knock myself out through suffocation that I just go to bed or I run out of time and decide to go the work or make an appointment etc... rather than just leaning around trying to end it.
