I've seen a video of an NDE from an athiest about a Christian hell and he talks of disgusting animals that were roaming in the bodies of people lying in hell. Thousands of maggots, cockroaches, spiders, and worms. The Bible even says "the worm dieth not".

Now, I don't believe in this cause it sounds bullshit but it's still a worry of mine. I think that even in this life now, the worst torture someone could give me is tie me up and put me in a box with cockroaches/worms. Also being put in the brazen bull

There is no objective morality. Where in the universe is there criteria for what is considered "good" and what is considered "bad"? The only place you'll find that is in the 10,000 different religions which don't even agree with each other.

I don't believe in heaven, hell, or an afterlife but my body will in any case be eaten by creatures.

I always find those stories suspect because they could say a person was anything then post a story. I believe that a lot of those Christian NDE's are stories to get people to join their blood cult out of fear. Idk if his particular story is true or not, but I know most Christians aren't above lying to get their way.

As for the story itself, I didn't know spirits needed to eat or felt hunger. That's news to me. The Bible said a lot of things that turned out to be false. I wouldn't worry too much.

If I was a total dupe who believed in the invented faith of the pedophile Pope who is in charge of the largest molestation machine in world history ... then yes.

kinda confused by this, i mean...if you decide to get buried and not cremated then youll be infected with animals i guess. but thats just what happens, its not scary.
also as an atheist why would u be scared of hell?

This is certainly an interesting question.
Just like you, I'd rather avoid this situation so I hope neither hell nor something like that is real.

I hope "peacefully eternal darkness" is the only thing waiting for us once we're gone lol.

I've actually never heard of this sort of afterlife before, so I'd have to say I was taken aback. It actually took me a few rereads before I fully understood haha.

That does sound terrifying, honestly. Your soul being eaten by a bunch of pests for all enternity sounds more sadistic than even burning in fire. It just sounds so ... Oddly specific. Though, I can't say I believe in any sort of afterlife. If anything, this makes me even more irreligous.

I've red the thread title quite a few times and I still don't understand. Like, afterlife rabies or something?

Being consumed by insects after death is near impossible. In cases of a proper burial, the body is put in a casket and lowered into a concrete vault. No insect can eat through all that. Any deterioration that will eventually happen will be strictly from its own causes.

If the fear of being consumed by insects is that strong for you, go with cremation, provided that your personal or religious beliefs allow for it. In most modern cremations, a body is turned into ashes by high heat, not direct flames. And once the ashes are scattered, they quickly mix with the surrounding soil or water.

also i have no idea where you live but its not like that everywhere. a lot of caskets go straight into the ground. theres even this one place where its so bad that bodies have been know to uncover in floods.

I live in the US. Perhaps the burial process varies from cemetery to cemetery. My description of the concrete vault was from attending funerals of family members. Caskets are usually solid wood (pricier), or recycled newspaper with a wooden veneer on the outside (cheaper). Both aren't easy for insects to get though, at least not early on. But if insects are that big of a fear for you, then cremation is an equally dignified alternative.

termites would eat through it.

idk "living" in concrete for the rest of my life doesnt sound like fun. although i guess it would cut down on different after death possibilities, maybe ill encase my urn in it. (then the world will flood and ill stay right where i am, the water levels will go down and new humans will discover me and put me in a museum lol)

Brazen bull is truly terrifying just to imagine. I don't think it has ever been confirmed to actually exist, but the mere conception is nightmarish enough. As for experiencing my own decay after death, I can't rule that out as impossible, but I think that it's really unlikely. I hold to the idea that a living brain is required for experience.

I think when we die our brains are flooded with DMT and shit gets weird. Can't speak from personal experience of death yet, but I have tried DMT but it was short and I didn't have the weird experience some people have, just some patterns.
