• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I think it looks uncanny and I don't get the appeal and I don't think I've seen anyone else mention this or have that critique when it first appeared

it looks just like one of those "warneen...if you are under 18 exit now..." "YOU WON'T LAST FIVE MINUTES PLAYING THIS GAME SIGN UP NOW" advertisements and I cannot unsee it now

been playing sims since 2014 or so. i started with the sims 3, so a realistic style isn't one i particularly dislike. inzoi has definitely on my radar. i can't imagine the game running well, nor... it being very good at all. if memory serves me right, the devs were caught using ai textures and, from what i've heard, make some cash grabby mobile games. i'm looking forward to paralives more.

I haven't heard about that at all but I am not surprised

I moved on to Paralives too since Life by You looked a bit too releastic too and I think they decided to stop working on it or it will never come out

I am hoping once Paralives is out it will inspire others to make life simulation games with more unique art styles or graphics

Is Sims 3 worth it? I keep seeing videos about how it isn't as good since I think EA took over?

my favourites would have to be Sims 2, Sims 2 but for the PSP (it was really great and funny but short), Sims 2 for GameCube, and The Urbz for GameCube but I haven't fully dipped into it yet

I'm a fan of life sim games. I've been playing since Sims 2. InZoi is uncanny looking I agree, I don't think it will age well and I don't like the appearance of it now. It also seems too focused on looks, a cultural thing I'd say, but for me that does little. Also, my PC can't handle it and they use AI textures and other gen AI functionality which I'm not a fan of.

Life by You seemed promissing but they lost me once they made the characters actually say premade sentences. That gets repetitive and old quickly, it should just be image bubbles like on the sims. Also, I watched a dev gameplay of it and the romance interactions put me off completely as the flirts are all on the naughty side and not on the romantic side so I can't use them for shy characters for example. It removes the imagination component. It also had too much modding involved I think. I felt like I had to work on that game, as a modder, to make it worth while. The game was cancelled at some point.

Paralives seems like the best candidate - they're taking what works in the Sims franchise and making some nice creative decisions. The visual direction is great, stylised so will age well and has a cozy feeling to it. The main issue of that game is how long it will take to come out as it's a small team. They already nailed the customization for both characters and environment, now I'm mostly worried about the AI and game progression side of it as that is much harder to show progress on.

absolutely. i know a lot of people say sims 3 is sucky because "ea took over," but in reality ea had been taking over maxis well before then, all the way back in 1997. some people also bring up will wright (the creator of the sims), but he didn't have much involvement even in the sims 2, which is the darling of the sims series.

sims 3 is very worth your money and i recommend it. you're going to need to get a lot done to get it to run smoothly if you're on a lower end device, but the game just updated for the first time in 10 years in feburary to be more optimized for newer pcs. still, check out the steam guide (works for ea app/steam) to help with troubleshooting and getting it set up. i have a very high-end pc and i still needed that guide, but now my game runs very smoothly.
