I read the poppers can cause methemoglobinemia, but how reliable are they as a method? Asking because, for the life of me, I cannot find SN or DMC, but I can find poppers just fine.

Not an expert on this by any means but I've researched it a bit before. I think one concern is that poppers are generally not purely amyl nitrite, and the concentrations are not made public (at least for the brands I've looked at), so it's hard to tell how much nitrite you're actually getting, as well as what else you might be putting in your system. There are some case studies of people suffering from methemoglobinemia after ingesting them, though..

Seems like downing "enough" could be fatal, but how much is enough? Two bottles? Ten? And would there be a greater chance of vomiting or other unwanted side effects compared to SN? Not sure. Nitrite is nitrite at the end of the day, but there are definitely a lot more unknown variables here. I think as far as nitrite alternatives go, KN is probably a better choice.
