Paramedics could hypothetically knock your teeth out when they're intubating you because they're in a hurry due to the "urgency" of the situation

Just greeeaat. If I survive SN I'll have gaps in my smile and bone loss in my face if I don't get restorative dental work ASAP (I wouldn't be able to afford it anyway because of the medical bills from my attempt). :ohh:

Read a news article about the nurse having to do chest compressions on an elderly person because the family wanted them to be kept alive at all costs. Chest compressions ended up breaking her sternum and several ribs in the process and eventually they succumb to infection.

They could also cut a hole straight to your trachea to insert a tube to keep you alive. I think people who did those were the ones that masturbated during biology class when they did live dissections.

Seeing that you're in the USA, you can get it notarized at the UPS store, the store manager can act as your witness too. I have a living will created after my attempt that states if I were to end up as a vegetable, then they are ordered to withdraw all life-saving measures keeping me alive. Makes it so that if I fail in my attempt to die, at least being a vegetable will invoke that clause.

This could've happened to me!
When I tried to CTB, because of taking 100 different pills, I ended up in a comma for 2 days and they "intubated me" during that time.

Fortunately, my teeth are safe. It was a close call!

Nah UPS doesn't touch medical directives or living wills.... I called them. I can have a notary drive to my place apparently for $$ but idk if it will be invalidated due to the timing of it.

That's weird, I had mine notarized by UPS. USPS also does it too, banks as well for a fee.

Maybe it is a covid thing? I called UPS, USPS, banks, the city- they wont touch it. Very odd too. When did you get yours done??

October 2019. I just went to the UPS store in my area and they did it for me. Banks should definitely be able to do it too. (Bank of America, Citibank, etc)

They do wills but not living wills that have medical directives. I will double check and call places again tomorrow. Thank you! <3 Do you think the proximity to a suicide attempt can invalidate these things? I wonder under what conditions a living will can be ignored

Here's the list of the states rules. Apparently it's different for all states.

If I recall correctly you survived an SN attempt in the past? Were you intubated for it as well? (You don't have to answer).

Yes, a friend of mine had to be intubated a few years ago when she had pneumonia. I met her in the lift at hospital when she was off life support and I hardly recognised her because two of her front teeth were missing.
Incidentally, she died a year later due to an overdose.

Seriously!! It's like they'll give the job to just about anyone.

As if having a newfound gap in my face is going to make me *not* attempt to try and off myself again.

My mum was resuscitated for 30 minutes. She was frail from not eating she was only about 5 or 6 stone. They broke every single rib. When she woke up she was in agony painkillers didn't help. She only stayed alive for about 8 hours after waking.

She had a diagnosis of heart disease. Had a heart attack I drive her to the hospital where they do a heart scan they tell me her heart went from like 20% working to zero chance of recovery. Then she had another heart attack an hour later where they had to do resus. I didn't see why they were working so hard to 'save' someone who had a zero chance of surviving anyway. They got her back after 30 minutes but then she died about 8 hours later. They put her through 8 more hours of agony

Our medical system is genuinely cruel and blind in so many ways. This is horrible. I am so appalled that something like this is ever possible.

I've come to view the modern medical model as nothing more than glorified torture porn :mmm:

A part of me believes that these pro-lifers and "doctors" have never experienced any pain greater than a bruise or paper-cut themselves, and thus completely lack the imagination to empathize with a person who's in genuine agony.

What happened to your mother though is absolutely horrific on a level beyond what words are even capable of expressing. :'(

Sending you loads of *hugs*
