First time poster, long time lurker.
Not a religious person, but besides the fact that Jesus himself commited suicide by cop (more like Roman) I found this quote very interesting, perhaps some of you will also.

Again I saw all the oppressions that are done under the sun. And behold, the tears of the oppressed, and they had no one to comfort them! On the side of their oppressors there was power, and there was no one to comfort them. And I thought the dead who are already dead more fortunate than the living who are still alive. But better than both is he who has not yet been and has not seen the evil deeds that are done under the sun.
- Ecclesiastes 4:1-3

This probably doesn't sound like such a hot take here (especially to the anti-natalists among us) but it's interesting why this found it's way in the bible. From King Soloman, the so-called wisest man who ever lived no less; basically saying yeah, this life shit is pretty terrible and if you were born, sucks to be you!

Many religions recognize on some level that life is shit, including christianity.

There's nothing wrong with this post . I respect that people can believe in what they want. I don't push my beliefs onto others. My complaint is most religious groups & churches don't have that respect. It's one thing to spread God's word & it's another thing to force onto others even when they ask you not to. Example, a couple years ago I received a letter pushing Jesus on me. I wrote back kindly asking them not to do that. A normal considerate human being would have left it at that, not these people. They wrote back pushing even harder. I used to be Christian, even gave Bible sermons as a kid. I know the the religion, since it was forced onto me by my hypocrite of mom. When I hit my teens I stopped believing what they told me to & saw what was written for myself. All man made religions are not for me. Christians are the worst at committing atrocities in the name of their God. Believe in what you believe in & let others do the same.

There are many philosophers too who have said similar things and had much else to say about death and suicide. Seneca, Schopenhauer, Hume, Plato, etc are worthwhile reads without the religious baggage. The Bible has too many authors and is so incoherent as a single book.
