Interesting and weird conversation I stumbled on on discord

Just want to share this.

So I was fumbling my way through clunky discord mobile trying to talk to someone from here and I ended up in a casual server that I had joined a while ago. This was a random server that revolved around a certain game so completely divorced from the topics we discuss here. But when I entered the chat what do you know but motherfucking SN was the topic of discussion.

Apparently one person was trying to order SN for its normal uses of meat-curing (turkey they said they wanted to use it for) but had trouble accessing it so they had to purchase from an expensive "Ukrainian seller".

I don't know why low purity product would be hard to obtain unless there are blanket regulations (I'm not up on the situation).

Someone asked what SN was and why it would be regulated.

Goddamn I wish I were in such a position that I would not those things either.

They said that people have been killing themselves with it and commented that the government prefers the optics of banning rather than fixing the country's (America) problems.

Fortunately there weren't any triggering remarks as such about suicide which often happens when it gets broached as a topic and this website wasn't mentioned.

Unlike some other users I really do not like reading about suicide and all adjacent topics on other sites because of the mental distress. For example I don't read the articles often kinked let alone things like the comments on the exposé videos.

As such it was actually very flustering to see these things discussed in a completely random unexpected place. Especially knowing what I am intending to do.

Though it made me consider that in this little regard (the availability of SN for its regular uses) we have been spoiled things for regular people.

Do you suppose they may have been saying that as a cover? Both for themselves and, anyone who might advise them? Of course, it's possible they did want it for meat curing but, like you say- wouldn't a lower potency product be ok for that? Unless I suppose they were curing a large amount, in which case, that sounds more like a business so, wouldn't they be qualified to source locally? Guess it would depend on their location and rules, like you say.

I don't know really. I just find it curious they would even know about an 'expensive Ukranian' seller to begin with. Unless these same discussions are going on between hobbyist meat curers.

But yeah, it's got to be frustrating for people who want to get hold of these substances for other uses.

I also try to avoid discussion of suicide in other places. Especially when they will (inevitably) turn pro-life. So, I can understand it being unsettling to come across it where you least expect it.

I don't think they were a suicidal person but rather a legitimate consumer. They wouldn't have talked about it openly like that. This was just a random space for general chatting. I don't know how they located that seller (if it is the one in vogue now, maybe it's not that hard to find) or why a lower purity product wouldn't do the trick (I don't know the differences between purity percentages when it comes to normal uses as that wasn't what was relevant to me of course!) . Maybe those are restricted as well. I can see why that may be the case if people want to play it safe. This was all just a little snippet of discussion but it was definitely very jarring to see this topic discussed completely unexpectedly. I thought I was in a SS space at first but I wasn't. Fortunately once the topic of suicide was broached there wasn't anything really ignorant opined as often happens and which I find very triggering.

And it did occur to me, probably too belatedly, how we have spoiled things for businesses and their regular customers. But that's just a symptom of the wider social problem.

Yeah, it's going to be a nightmare for legitimate businesses. It's actually no real wonder they insist on only selling to companies, schools etc. I think, understandably, people our side of things are mostly concerned with how desperate they feel. Yet- imagine if they worked for one of these companies and, the parents of say, a 17 year old that manage to trick them into selling SN and CTB with it came after them? I do feel bad for the sellers also really. Not so much the individuals though. I think they know and are ok with what they're doing and, they must realise the risks.

I hate the culture of blame we live in though. It was bad enough just working in a shop. You can be held personally legally accountable for selling alcohol to someone underage. I used to hate checking ID's. People used to get so affronted by it. (They shouldn't really. They obviously look youthful.) Plus, my maths was crap. Especially when I was nervous. But yeah, I hate it when the responsibility is put on the person not actually trying to break the law! Just doing their job.
