I'm finally getting help from a psych.

If my insomnia was cured I could fix everything else.

I know I need to befriend wakefulness and get out of bed and read boring books, but if I get out of bed I never get back down. My psych also is not telling me to do cbti of anything. She thinks the right meds will work.

So far only benzos help me sleep. I've been on mirtzapine, trazodone, and doxepin. I'm on quitipine 50mg now and it's not getting me more than 4h. Probably 3. Add a teensy lorazepam and I got 5 though.

And if I sleep even 5 I don't want to kms.

Did anyone find a med that works?

I take gabapentin and seroquel that I think help the most with sleep. I am on 600mg of gabapentin and 100mg of seroquel but my other two meds, tegretol and Invega, probably contribute to the drowsiness.

I am still waking up about 3 times a night but I am able to go back to bed right away, it is just harder if I took a nap in the day or wake up earlier than I usually do. It's not perfect but it's better than staying awake longer lol.

75mg seroquel didn't work last night 😔
Benzos don't make me sleep much longer but it feels better being awake. I just don't want to get addicted and keep needing more.

Hindsight is 20/20, but seroquel not working after mirtazapine failed is somewhat expected imo. Their sedating effects are suspected to come from them hitting the h1 antihistamine receptor. I probably would avoid diphenhydramine and doxylamine if I were you for that same reason.

Have you gotten your blood tested? That could give your doctors some more information.

You could try clonidine, it's not an amazing hypnotic but it might help and it's much safer than anything else you've taken. It can also help with anxiety, ADHD stuff, opioid withdrawal, quite a odd amount actually.

I would 2nd the Lemborexant and other orexin antagonists, probably the thing I move to if benzos aren't on the table.

Other stuff that might help is supplementing magnesium (I recommend magnesium glycinate) and improving sleep hygiene.

If you wanna go a little more recreational, you could also try Kava. Kava is kind of similar to benzodiazepines, it's complicated and needs more research, but it's also pretty benign if you want to give it a shot.

Weed also helps, or just CBD oil if you're gonna get your piss tested or something.

No true cure for this. I have had the best luck with ambien but you build a tolerance for it fast so you need to be cautious with it. Additionally, dumbasses that drink and go out with it have demonized it to where doctors hesitate to prescribe it. But it helps me a lot.

Otherwise, for supplements, a low-dose magnesium supplement doesn't hurt. Phosphatidyl Serine sometimes helps, in helping me fall back asleep. Glycine may so something idk it doesn't hit hard.
