Ok so this is a rough estimate using both the data from the amount of suicides with a gun in the USA in 2022 (
around 27,000) and the suicide fatality rate (
89.7%) So doing the math to get the aproximate estimate of all firearm suicide attempts both successful/unsuccessful gets you a number of 30,100. Then subtracting that number by the successful attempts, 27,000, gets you a rough idea of the amount of failed attempts in America in 2022, which is
3,100.
One of the biggest flaws in this though is that most of the numbers in both of these studies are rounded or generalized so this is really just a educated guess on it of what the number could be. Also sorry if my math is wrong I'm not good at math.
