Hello,

When I watch the hanging videos and read some of the threads in the forum,
it seems to me that many who use the hanging method (e.g., full suspension)
use highly improvised "ropes" and sometimes also rather makeshift anchor points.

The following improvised ropes seem to be popular:

- Rolled-up bed sheets
- Rolled-up towels

I find this highly astonishing. I can understand that someone might not be able
to find a good anchor point, but it's easy and inexpensive to get a suitable rope.

I think improvised ropes have risks:

- Because a rolled-up cloth is wider than a real rope, the pressure is distributed
over a larger area. In theory, this means that unconsciousness should occur later.

- One advantage of the improvised rope might be that it causes less pain? (But for longer?)

---

Ceiling fans often seem to serve as makeshift anchor points . But the risk of the
ceiling fan tearing out of its mounting is incalculably high.

Anyone who wants to comment on this is invited to blurt out their arrogant
opinion (IMAO :)) or their humpty opinion (IMHO) here in the thread! :)

---

Many thanks and best regards,
Suizident

That's true. Happens mostly to individuals who doesn't actively plan and prepare for suicide. Probably impulse? People who didn't have the means to procure the materials or look for a solid anchor point and they had to do it as soon as they can. Pretty sad to think about but also scary. You're right, failure is highly probable.

I watched a YouTube report video, about an inmate who hung himself successfully using his shirt, it was also a partial suspension. People will use whatever they have access to.

But I still think a real rope is the best way to do it.
