[Infinite Conscious]

I believe a lot of us (if not most) here are introverted, alienated, reserved and willingly spend time alone.

But we are still social beings.
800,000 people commit suicide each year.

Imagine if we could all gather together and live in a commune... a city with like-minded people, almost mirror-images of ourselves, who don't judge, who offer compassion, who have similar interests and one mutual goal.

How many of you would postpone your suicide plans in such a scenario?

I remember when I spent 2 months in a private rehabilitation center with other addicts.
Although we were all dismantled by problems and negative emotions, those were some of the best days of my life.
I felt like I belonged there, with those people, and although all drugs or alcohol were forbidden, we had a great time.

Imagine... such a place. Such a city. I believe there would be less suicides than in any other random city.

Would you move to such a place? :)
I definitely would.

PS. I am not talking about a cult, just a fictional town of "lost souls" where many would find peace and a new desire to live.
Actually I might write a novel about such a place... so any ideas and/or opinions are welcome.

I had virtually the same thought last nigh, of-course googling lead to many cult stuff but I think something good could still be done.

I am talking about a city, it doesn't mean you would have to know or get along with everyone.
800,000 people succeed in taking their own life each year.
Imagine how many more don't succeed, or never even try... we are talking about millions, probably a NY size city, at least.
Of course, not all of them would join.

But for those who would, it would truly be a magnificent project...
Which would fail, of course, since it would have to be financed by the state (or governments of multiple countries), because it would have to be socialism in order to support a population of mostly depressed people who can't provide for themselves. And a nice idea would soon be abused and misused by those who would move in just because they are lazy and wish to be taken care of by the state.

Thus - utopia.

But it would be a good movie.
No happy-ending, though.

Maybe a project on a lesser scale, in a single country, could work.
Like in one of the Scandinavian countries, which have high suicide rates and are rich enough to be able to support such a project.
And those countries, like Sweden or Denmark or Norway, already practice democratic socialism.

Too bad we as a species are not more morally evolved and have to fuck up every nice idea.

I would live in a city with other people who share this desire for suicide, and who attend with mental disorders. it would be the perfect city for me, there I would find myself.

I think if I were to live in that city, I'd organize a group suicide. The other members would be willing and we wouldn't die alone. The comfort of people next you who aren't crying over you because they are going with you.

No. Being suicidal, mentally ill, introvert or whatever does not necessarily make you a good person. People are just people. Personally I prefer to stay with the devil I know.
